Bozanov combines marked trails with distinctive details of architectural history. Two different destinations stand out in the landscape: the Božanovský Špičák labyrinth with its sandstone formations, and a viewpoint on Koruna, where you can look out over Bozanov and part of the Broumov Basin. The cultural attractions also have tangible points of interest: the Church of St. Mary Magdalene and a former agricultural farmstead. This gives you a choice of nature- or architecture-focused experiences when planning your trip, complemented by hiking and cycling options with named starting points.

Hiking Trails and Views

The yellow-marked detour from Pánův kříž leads to the Božanovský Špičák labyrinth, with its picturesque sandstone formations. Koruna offers a different experience: from the U Koruny trail junction, a marked one-kilometre detour leads to the viewpoint. From there, you can look out over Bozanov and part of the Broumov Basin. The two destinations offer distinct highlights: at Špičák, the rock labyrinth and its formations take centre stage; at Koruna, it is the viewpoint and its vistas over the village and basin.

Architectural History in Bozanov

The architectural history of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene can be traced through several features. The present-day building was begun in 1709 and completed in 1743. The complex also includes a late Gothic entrance gate to the cemetery dating from the 15th century. The church also preserves a stone sacrament house, which was later set into the façade of its early Baroque bell tower. For travellers interested in culture, the church can therefore be understood through several architectural details, not just its period of construction.

A different type of building is represented by the former agricultural farmstead at Božanov No. 247/248. It is considered a typical, relatively well-preserved Broumov farmstead from the mid-19th century. It thus complements the ecclesiastical architectural history with an agricultural building type. The points of reference also span different periods: from the 15th-century cemetery gate, through the present-day church building, to the farmstead from the mid-19th century.

Hiking and Cycling

Hiking and cycling have specific but different starting points. The hiking route from Božanov to Hvězda runs from the centre of Božanov to Hvězda and is rated moderate. A cycling tour entitled “For the Beauty of the Broumov Farmsteads and to the Radkov Reservoir” also starts in the centre of Božanov. The route title refers to the Broumov farmsteads and the Radkov Reservoir; Hvězda is named as the destination of the hiking route. Bozanov also has a tourist border crossing on a hiking trail.

When planning a trip, distance and difficulty answer different questions: the marked detour to Koruna is one kilometre long; the hiking route to Hvězda is rated moderate. You can therefore consider a specific route length and a difficulty rating as separate points of reference when making your choice.
