Osičky sits on elevated ground in a gently rolling, fertile agricultural landscape and along the southern edge of the escarpment of the Urbanická furrow. The KČT 4198 cycle route runs to the edge of the village. The landscape, cycle route, and local buildings and memorials offer different ways to explore the area.
Cycling on the Edge of the Village
The KČT 4198 cycle route branches off from Osice toward Osičky and runs to the edge of the village. By the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, it continues toward Dobřenice along an unpaved field track that is easy to ride on a standard bicycle. This makes it possible to distinguish the section from Osice to the edge of the village from the continuation toward Dobřenice. For route planning, this provides specific information about the direction, a notable landmark, and the surface.
Landscape and Water Features
A spring pond lies in the western outskirts of Osičky, beside the Černská strouha. Public green spaces can be found around a revitalized fire-water reservoir and behind the children’s playground. These areas can be distinguished when finding your way around: the pond is beside the watercourse in the western outskirts, while the green spaces are by the reservoir and behind the playground. Alongside the agricultural landscape, these are specific water and green spaces within the village.
Buildings and Village History
The niche chapel with a bell tower is a brick structure. The bell tower has a roof, and beneath it there is an altar in a glazed niche. A bell tower on the village square is considered a locally significant monument. The World War I memorial consists of a sandstone monolith bearing a relief of the state coat of arms; its plaque commemorates the fallen soldiers of the municipality of Vosiček. The two memorials make different impressions: the bell tower and altar define the chapel, while the sandstone monolith, coat-of-arms relief, and plaque are the focus of the memorial.
Archaeological finds attest to prehistoric settlement in what is now Osičky. From the 11th century onward, Osičky belonged to Opatovice Monastery. Before World War II, local shareholders established Družstevní sušárna čekanky, a cooperative chicory-drying plant. The timeline therefore stretches from prehistory through the Middle Ages to the period before World War II. The two topics also have different points of emphasis: the cycle route is defined by its direction and surface, while the buildings and memorials bring local history into focus.
Rural Character and Getting Around
For a long time, Osičky retained its rural character, with buildings mainly typical of agricultural farmsteads. A public library with internet access is also among the village’s facilities. If you would like to use the library during your stay, check its opening hours in advance.
