Sudovo Hlavno can be explored through several different themes: the NauÄŤná stezka vladyky Sudy nature trail, the bell tower in the village square and local customs. The setting on the edge of the Polabian Plain, the CecemĂn ridge and a nearby recreational area with three lakes are also part of the picture. For planning your trip, it makes a difference whether you mainly want to experience the landscape and trails or plan your stay around a local custom or event.
Nature Trail and Landscape
The NauÄŤná stezka vladyky Sudy nature trail has led through the landscape of Hlavno since 2013. One of its information boards is at U PĂsečáku. From Sudovo Hlavno, head towards DĹ™Ăsy and turn onto an asphalt road about 100 metres beyond the village to reach it. Both the nature trail through the landscape and this specifically named landmark can serve as starting points for your stay.
The landscape in the cadastral area of Sudovo Hlavno lies at the farthest edge of the Polabian Plain. To the north, the plain is bordered by DlouhĂ˝ bÄ›h forest; the CecemĂn ridge is another significant landscape feature in the area. The plain, northern forest edge and ridge describe different aspects of the local landscape.
Village History at the Bell Tower
The Zvonička s obecnà váhou bell tower stands in the village square. It was built in 1905. It was restored in late 2007 using a historical photograph as a reference, and its doors and windows were renewed. The village was first mentioned in writing in 1386. The written history of the village and the documented dates relating to the bell tower therefore reach back to different periods. If you plan to visit the tower, check its current condition locally.
Customs and Events
Masopust is one of Sudovo Hlavno’s traditional annual customs and is attended by local residents as well as visitors from elsewhere. Easter-related customs include Ĺ™ehtánĂ, the jidáši whipping unmarried girls with willow rods, and Monday HodovánĂ. The long-running Naše Hlavno project also agreed that children would learn to weave a pomlázka.
Different time frames matter when it comes to events: Masopust is an annual custom, while a 2026 event listing describes the Turnaj o Sudův pohár as a family event featuring a historical battle between several teams. Check the dates if you are planning your visit around this event. The Novoročnà běh is also among the public events held in Hlavno during the year; local residents and visitors from elsewhere take part.
Surroundings and Road Directions
The well-known recreational area around the lakes of Lhota, Ovčáry and KonÄ›topy is near Sudovo Hlavno. The only road, III/2752, runs through the area of Sudovo Hlavno. It leads from Motorest U ÄŚtyĹ™ kamenĹŻ via Hlavenec to KostelnĂ Hlavno, MeÄŤeĹ™ĂĹľ and ChotÄ›tov. The lakes and the named road connection add further regional points of reference to the local themes, without implying a particular excursion route.
Choose Accommodation Based on Your Reason for Travelling
If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Sudovo Hlavno, the focus of your trip can help with planning: the nature trail, landscape and village history appeal to different interests than a stay centred on a particular custom or event. If your visit depends on an event date, it is advisable to check the relevant dates before booking.
