For a stay in Senohraby, trails, riverside places and architectural history offer different points of interest. If you are planning excursions, you can follow specific routes or take the seasonal conditions of individual attractions into account.

Trails between the station, the Mnichovka and the castle

A yellow-marked hiking trail connects Senohraby station with the ruins of Zlenice Castle. At the station, there is step-free access to the station building and all platforms. Local trail markings may change; check them before setting out.

Another option is the Vodnické vycházky educational and adventure trail. It has 13 stops and is divided into the Ondřejovská, Lensedelská and Senohrabská sections. The trail follows the right bank of the Mnichovka to the Sázava. There, visitors can reach Zlenice Castle, also known as Hláska, and try out a viewpoint.

The descriptions offer different guidance when choosing a trail: the yellow-marked trail connects the station and the castle ruins, while the 13 stops and three sections are the focus of the Vodnické vycházky. You can choose your tour based on whether the starting point at the station or the structure of the adventure trail is more important to you.

Places along the Sázava

Plovárna Senohraby is on the right bank of the Sázava at river kilometre 37.6, where it meets the Mnichovka. It is located between Senohraby and Čtyřkoly, opposite the settlement of Zlenice. Its river kilometre, tributary and opposite settlement pinpoint its location in the riverside landscape.

The traditional Senohraby ferry is another local attraction: it is propelled with a simple pole and remains a tourist attraction to this day. Operating conditions may vary by season; if you plan to take the ferry, check the current conditions in advance.

In the southeastern part of the area, the seasonal Poddubí (U Bořka) leisure centre is located on the banks of the Sázava. It caters to water tourism associated with the Sázava. As the centre operates seasonally, check its current opening period before planning your visit.

Castle, chapel and distinctive architectural history

Zlenice Castle was founded after 1300 on a rocky promontory below which the Mnichovický stream flows into the Sázava. Today, only the castle ruins remain. The ruins are commonly called Hláska, after the prominent remnant of the tower. The name thus connects both to the historic castle and to its distinctive surviving feature.

The chapel in Senohraby tells a different architectural story: it is dedicated to Saint Adalbert and was built in 2010 and 2011 with donations from local residents. The difference in date from the castle’s founding makes the two sites distinct points of connection to the history of the area.

The cultural heritage also includes the complex of villas, tramping cabins and non-tramping cabins in Senohraby. In the Czech lands, it is a unique complex of historical value. Its distinctive character lies not in a single building, but in the combination of the villas and cabins mentioned above.

Winter activities and a hiking march

There are cross-country ski trails in the cadastral areas of Senohraby and Pětihost, associated with the Vávrův palouk ski area. Various races are held there, including, for example, a Vasaloppet-style race for amateurs. Winter sports conditions depend on the snow cover.

The ski jumping hill on the northern edge of Hláska hill is also part of the area’s sporting history: it opened on 15 January 1933 but is no longer in operation. Another recurring reason to visit is the “Okolo hvězdárny k Ladově chalupě” hiking march, held in Senohraby since 1971. If you want to plan your trip around it, check the dates and participation details for the year you have in mind.
