Mnichovice U Říčan offers several distinct reasons to visit: the Krásné Vyhlídky nature trail, a cycling route to Prague-Kolovraty, historic buildings and seasonal activities at Šibeniční vrch. When planning, it is especially useful to distinguish between the hiking trail and the cycling route: each has its own length and uses, and the nature trail is expressly reserved for pedestrians.

Hiking the Krásné Vyhlídky Nature Trail

The Krásné Vyhlídky nature trail is 9.2 km long, has an elevation gain of 150 m and connects Mnichovice with Struhařov and Klokočná. There are nine rest stops with benches along the route. These details give you concrete figures for planning your hike, while the rest stops provide designated places to pause. Three years after it opened, the trail was being used by hikers, families with children and strollers, and schoolchildren from Mnichovice as part of their lessons.

A Separate Option for Cycling

The Do Prahy na kole cycle route starts in Mnichovice and runs via Všestary, Světice and Říčany to Prague-Kolovraty. The route is 14.3 km long and serves both everyday cycling and recreation. There are rest areas and various places to visit along the way. The two routes therefore differ in their use: Krásné Vyhlídky is reserved exclusively for pedestrians, whereas Do Prahy na kole also serves everyday cycling.

Historic Buildings

According to historical sources, Zittův Mlýn was already standing in Mnichovice in 1600. The mill is one of the town’s oldest buildings and a valuable surviving example of folk architecture and milling. Its history makes it a distinct cultural and historical point of interest alongside the trails and landscape attractions.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary also tells the story of a notable period in the town’s history. The Baroque church was rebuilt after the fire of 1746 and consecrated on September 8, 1754. When exploring the buildings, two different historical perspectives stand side by side: a surviving example of milling and a church whose present appearance dates back to its reconstruction after the fire.

Landscape and Nature at Rybník Koloděj

The Mnichovická kotlina lies in rolling, hilly and wooded terrain that extends as far as the Sázava; the Mnichovka flows south. Remains of the dam are still visible at the former Rybník Koloděj pond. Grey herons, grass frogs, pool frogs and grass snakes are found in the area; the grey heron is protected. The landscape, historical traces and animal species mentioned here give this area a different focus from the routes and buildings in town.

Seasonal Activities and Places to Eat

Šibeniční vrch has a ski area described as family-friendly, with a snow-covered slope suitable for beginners, a ski school and rental facilities. There is also a gentle children’s slope with a lift and a snow carousel. Activities are seasonal and facilities may change, so check which ones are currently operating before making plans.

In Mnichovice-Myšlín, Myšlín Gardens is a family recreation farm with a garden bistro. It serves daily dishes made with locally sourced ingredients and herbal lemonades. Produce grown there is also processed: herbs are turned into regional products made without the use of chemicals. If you are planning to stop at Myšlín Gardens, it is worth checking the bistro’s current menu.

The Mnichovická Běhna is a running competition held at the Podhorky sports field on Bezručova Street in Mnichovice. If you want the race to determine when you visit, check the event date in advance.
