Líbeznice offers travelers several distinct themes: religious architecture, transport history, cycling routes in the surrounding area and further afield, as well as magic and sports. This range is useful when choosing what to focus on: St. Martin’s Church combines specific architectural and historical features, while the “Okolí Líbeznic” map describes cycling routes and landscapes in the surrounding area. The magic theater and the “Duhovka” sports and leisure area add a stage show and a sports-related venue to the options. When planning a stay, you can weigh up culture, cycling and entertainment.

St. Martin’s Church and its architectural history

St. Martin’s Church is a rectangular, single-nave building with a square presbytery, side sacristies and a tower at the front. “Single-nave” describes an arrangement centered around a main nave; the presbytery is the chancel area. These terms help distinguish the basic layout, chancel area and adjoining rooms. The church is listed as an immovable cultural monument. A lightning rod was installed at St. Martin’s by Antonín Renner, a professor from Prague; the church was considered the first in Bohemia to have such a lightning rod. Its architectural form and this specific detail of technological history can therefore be considered side by side.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary on Nádražní Street dates from the second half of the 18th century; the Baroque rectory dates from the first half of the same century and has a mansard roof. This makes it possible to compare the two dates within the 18th century, while the rectory’s roof provides an additional architectural feature. The Late Baroque stone bridge is a surviving relic of the so-called Imperial Road. Comparing these structures raises two different questions: the chapel and rectory can be considered in terms of their dates and forms, while the bridge is notable for its historical connection to a road.

Cycling routes in the surrounding area

The “Okolí Líbeznic” map shows twelve suggested cycling routes in and around Líbeznice. The routes pass through fields, meadows and forests, as well as along existing cycle paths, and avoid busy roads. The range from the immediate area to the wider surroundings is useful when choosing a route: you can first decide whether to explore the nearby area or a broader region. The landscapes described and the routes themselves provide further criteria for comparison. The map offers a selection of routes; it does not describe one fixed itinerary. As conditions on individual routes may change, check the latest information before setting off.

Magic and sports

Pavel Kožíšek’s magic theater offers a different focus. “Magical Aces” is a family magic show at the theater in Líbeznice. If you’d like to include the show in your stay, check the current performance dates in advance. The theater provides free parking for cars and buses for its audience. The “Duhovka” sports and leisure area includes a traffic education course located within the athletics track. The theater offers a show with performance dates to plan around, while at Duhovka the focus is on the traffic education course’s specific location.
