Činěves combines a detailed architectural history with Zásadník Pond. The dates range from the early 18th-century presbytery to 19th-century monuments. The pond and the directly adjacent retention basin add a focus on water to the local history. This allows you to decide whether you are more interested in architectural and monument history or in the waterside landscape.

Architectural History and Monuments

The presbytery in Činěves was built in 1711–1712; the associated farm buildings were added by around 1750 at the latest. A Baroque roof structure and a ceiling with board cladding have been preserved. Thus, the presbytery is notable not only for its dates, but also for specific features of its built fabric. The Church of St. Wenceslas was built later, from 1730 to 1732, to plans by Tomáš Haffenecker, a master builder from Malá Strana. Together, the presbytery, church and farm buildings mark several building phases of the 18th century.

The two religious monuments have different dates. The monument with the statue of the Virgin Mary was created by sculptor Černil in 1892–1893 from fine-grained Hořice-type sandstone. The statue of St. John of Nepomuk was made by stonemason Václav Bydžovský in Nový Bydžov; parish priest František Šafránek consecrated it in 1866. The dates refer to different events: 1866 is the consecration date of the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, while 1892–1893 is the period during which the Marian monument was created.

Another trace of history is found in the entrance hall of the Church of St. Wenceslas: the restored gravestone of Dorota Křinecká is permanently displayed there. It is occasionally open to the public. If you specifically wish to see this gravestone, check in advance whether a visit is possible.

Zásadník Pond and Accommodation

Zásadník Pond lies within the cadastral area of Činěves and covers 62,516 m². A retention basin of 8,488 m² lies directly beside it. The two bodies of water serve different purposes: Zásadník is a municipal fishing water for anglers and the general public; the basin holds back water from snowmelt in spring and stores rainwater during heavy rainfall. The pond is therefore more than seven times the size of the retention basin.

A public campsite with cabins where overnight stays are possible lies beside the pond. Check locally before your trip to confirm current operations and booking options. This specific accommodation option can then be taken into account when planning, without equating it with holiday-apartment offerings.

Old Bohemian Pilgrimage Fair

An Old Bohemian pilgrimage fair is held in Činěves annually on the first Sunday in July. It commemorates the consecration of the Marian monument. The programme and exact event date may vary; if you wish to include the pilgrimage fair in your travel plans, check the date in advance.
