The Elbe and the Železné hory shape the landscape of Tři Dvory. Also notable are a paved, illuminated cycling path between Tři Dvory and Kolín, a freely accessible quarry and historical evidence. These topics differ in their geographical and chronological focus and can be considered according to your interests.
Landscape and activity
In the southeast, the last foothills of the Železné hory and the Elbe shape the landscape of Tři Dvory. For outdoor activity, the paved and illuminated cycling path between Tři Dvory and Kolín is a clear point of reference. It can be used by pedestrians, cyclists and inline skaters. The route is therefore relevant not only for cycling trips; it is also an option for walking or inline skating. The landscape and the cycling path answer different questions: one describes the setting, while the other offers a specific connection and indicates how it can be used.
Geology on the edge of the village
The Eklogit u Tří Dvorů quarry lies on the northwestern edge of Tři Dvory and is freely accessible. Eklogit u Tří Dvorů is registered by the Česká geologická služba as an interesting geological site. The rock consists of amphibolite and garnet-bearing eclogite. A visit here can therefore focus on a specific subject: a freely accessible site with recognized geological significance and a described rock composition. This distinguishes the quarry from the cycling path, which provides orientation through its route and user groups.
History across different periods
The written history of the village begins with the first mention of Tři Dvory in 1347. In the spring of 1690, the village burned down completely; afterward, it was entirely rebuilt closer to the Elbe. This sequence links a clearly dated turning point with a change in the village’s location: the Elbe is part of not only the landscape but also the history of the rebuilding. A later, different historical reference is the monument to those who fell in the First World War. It dates from 1921 and commemorates a much more recent period than the first mention and the rebuilding.
An even earlier period is represented by pottery fragments from the La Tène period, that is, from the 3rd to 2nd century BC. The finds come from the Tři Dvory area and are housed in the museum in Kolín. The distinction is important for understanding the chronology: the fragments relate to a period before the first written mention, while 1347 marks the beginning of the documented written history.
Outdoor swimming pool
Tři Dvory also has an outdoor swimming pool. If you would like to include it in your plans, check the current opening hours and operating status before your visit. The pool adds another option to the local attractions; unlike the landscape, history or freely accessible site, a visit here depends on operating information.
