Záluží combines a valley setting on the Stroupinský potok with the early history surrounding Hrádek and sporting traditions. This creates a mix of scenery, a historical focal point and competitions that are part of local club life when choosing a destination.

Valley and watercourse

Záluží stretches along the Stroupinský potok in a valley between Cerhovice and Hořovice. The stream is a left-bank tributary of the Červený potok. Its catchment area covers 108.515 km²; it flows into the Červený potok downstream of Bavoryně. This makes it possible to trace the watercourse from the valley near Záluží to its confluence. Cerhovice and Hořovice also provide the geographical setting for the description of the place. If you like to consider both scenery and local history when choosing a destination, you will find two distinct points of reference here: the stream and the history associated with Hrádek.

Hrádek and the early history of the place

The early history of Záluží is closely connected with Hrádek Castle. Hrádek was probably a very old fortified settlement and was already described as abandoned at the beginning of the 14th century. These two points in time are presented together: the possible early fortification and its early status as an abandoned settlement. You can reach the site of Hrádek via a path that branches off east from the Záluží–Osek road. This links the historical focal point with a specific point of reference for getting there. If you are particularly interested in the older history of the place, you can make Hrádek a distinct theme of your stay.

Sporting traditions

The Pohár vítězů is an annual fire-sport competition for youth and veteran teams. Its tradition dates back to 2000. The three-player Nohejbal tournament is a different sporting highlight: traditional Nohejbal tournaments are held at the Tělovýchovná jednota Záluží sports complex in the centre of the village, which is open to the public. The two competitions therefore differ both in sport and in the participant groups and event features mentioned.

The 50th edition of the three-player Nohejbal tournament was scheduled for 2026, with two sand courts planned for the event. This anniversary edition is a historical reference point in the tournament's tradition, but does not provide information about future dates. If you would like to plan your visit around a competition, check its date before travelling. This lets you include the event in your plans without assuming that it will be repeated or held on a fixed date.

Getting around the village

For everyday needs, there is a specific shopping address: the COOP shop is located at Záluží 45. Payment options include a payment terminal and electronic grocery vouchers. It is worth checking the current opening hours before planning a shopping trip.

The three bus stops are called u Kovárny, V Brance and u Transformátoru. Their names help you find the stops; for a specific journey, check the timetable for your travel day. Together, the valley setting, Hrádek, sporting traditions and local points of reference give a clear picture of what makes Záluží a distinctive destination. Depending on whether you are more interested in scenery, history or club competitions, you can plan your stay around one of these highlights.
