Wetland landscapes and horses open up two distinct ways to explore the Municipality of Oprisavci. Gajna represents the pasture and wetland landscape of the Slavonian Sava lowlands; in Trnjanski Kuti and Poljanci, horses are at the heart of agricultural tourism. Other attractions include the parish church in Oprisavci and the old Slavonian house near Kuća dida Tunje. Nature, local history and equestrian experiences offer different ways to discover the same municipality.
Gajna and the Sava lowland landscape
The Municipality of Oprisavci is in the eastern Posavina region of Brod-Posavina County, between the A3 Zagreb–Lipovac motorway to the north and the Sava River to the south. The protected Gajna Landscape Area lies within the municipality; it is a pasture typical of the Slavonian Sava lowlands, with rich wetland flora and fauna. A nature trail is located in the protected area. Route 302 Slavonska ravnica, on the other hand, passes by Gajna and is 53 kilometres long. The nature trail and the route are therefore distinct: the trail is in Gajna, while the route described passes by it. Check the route before your trip.
Oprisavci: Church and Kuća dida Tunje
The parish church of Uzvišenja Sv. križa in Oprisavci dates from 1830. Another place of local interest is Kuća dida Tunje, a large hospitality complex in the village. It includes three konobas, a beer hall, a souvenir shop and a children’s playground. The old Slavonian house near Kuća dida Tunje has been restored in the traditional style and fitted out for guest accommodation. If you are considering this lodging option as part of your accommodation plans, check its current availability in advance.
Horses in Trnjanski Kuti and Poljanci
At the “Mata” agricultural tourism farm in Trnjanski Kuti, horses are the main attraction, including several ponies. You can ride under expert supervision and enjoy homemade products made on the farm. The Olanović Stud Farm in Poljanci has 20 Lipizzaners of all ages. Visitors can tour the stud farm, ride horses, and take trips in farm wagons and carriages. The places also differ in their additional offerings: “Mata” pairs its horses with farm-made products, while in Poljanci you can choose between two types of wagon rides as well as a stud farm tour. Check visitor arrangements before making plans.
More places to explore in Brod-Posavina
Other attractions in the wider Brod-Posavina destination offer more to explore beyond the municipality. The Spomen galerija Ivana Meštrovića in Vrpolje displays 35 sculptures and reliefs in plaster and bronze; Tvrđava Brod houses the Tambura Museum and the Ružić Gallery. Hiking routes also offer a useful comparison: Strmac–Brezovo polje is listed as a 7.1-kilometre route taking three hours, while the circular trail around Lake Petnja covers 18.8 kilometres and takes five to six hours. When planning in the wider destination, you can choose between a shorter, three-hour route and a longer loop taking five to six hours.
