Mt Brydges offers several ways to experience culture and nature: a tour of historic buildings, a reconstructed longhouse village, conservation areas and seasonal activities at Kustermans. You can choose the focus of your outing based on your interests—from cultural heritage and trails through forests and wetlands to farm events.
Cultural Heritage in Mt Brydges
The Heritage Walking Tour in Mount Brydges includes 13 historic buildings. Its stops give the walk a clear focus: historic buildings in the community. Ska-Nah-Doht Village offers a different way to explore the past. It is a reconstructed longhouse village, similar to villages inhabited by Indigenous communities about 1,000 years ago.
The Ska-Nah-Doht Museum focuses on local Indigenous heritage and the environment. The Village is open daily year-round from 9:00 a.m. until dusk. Opening hours and access conditions may change; check the latest information before visiting.
Trails and Conservation Areas
Longwoods Road Conservation Area encompasses 63 hectares of forest, ravines and wetlands in the Carolinian Life Zone. Visitors can explore 10 kilometres of scenic trails. Many are wheelchair-accessible, and the area also has boardwalks and bridges. For day use, Longwoods is open daily year-round from 9:00 a.m. until dusk. The area also has group camping and a pavilion available to rent.
Mill Stream Conservation Area offers a different landscape: its ten hectares include Carolinian forest and ravine habitats that support a diverse range of wildlife. There is no drinking water or washroom on site. Factor this into your plans—for example, bring water and plan a suitable washroom stop in advance.
For a comparison of trail distances, Longwoods’ 10 kilometres can be compared with the approximately 1.4-kilometre Mount Brydges Lions Park Trail. This walking trail is wheelchair-accessible. Mount Brydges Lions Park also has a modern playground.
Farm Activities and Seasonal Visits
The family-friendly Kustermans farm combines a petting farm with an amusement park. From April to December, Kustermans offers a calendar of events featuring festivals and U-pick activities, including berries, sunflowers and pumpkins. The seasonal program may change; check the latest dates before your visit.
The Kustermans Farm Market offers local jam and honey, fresh and frozen pies, fresh and frozen farm berries, gift items and sweet treats. The selection may also change. Mt Brydges offers a range of options, from culture and conservation areas to family-friendly farm activities, with different experiences to weigh up according to the season and your personal interests.
