A church dating from 1835, hiking trails starting at the Gramadliva Hut, and the mineral spring at Voneshta Voda reveal the many facets of the area around Prodanovtsi. When planning your outings, it is worth choosing a focus: culture and history, walking the trails, or nature around the spring, forests, and rivers.
Getting there and finding your way
Voynezha has regular bus services to Veliko Tarnovo and nearby settlements. Check the current timetable before setting out, as transport arrangements may change. A road through Voneshta Voda runs from Veliko Tarnovo over the Republic Pass to Nova Zagora; road conditions and route details may also change. Local route M5 runs from Ilakov RĹt through BrĹchkovtsi and Vitevtsi to Prodanovtsi and back to Ilakov RĹt. It is 3.63 kilometres long. The bus service, regional road, and local route provide different reference points for planning.
Hiking and scenery
The area around Gramadliva Hut offers mountain and sports tourism, a sports orienteering course, and a ski slope with a drag lift. The condition and operation of the facilities may change; check current conditions before visiting. Hiking trails from the hut connect the area with Tryavna and Voneshta Voda. Conditions on these routes may also change, so it is worth checking the current trail route before setting out.
A 2018 account describes a hike from Kladni Dyal to Stoykova Cheshma, with the option of continuing to Planinitsa. This presents different hiking options: the trails from Gramadliva Hut connect two places, while the account of the hike from Kladni Dyal names a destination and a possible extension.
Voneshta Voda has a mineral spring, beech and oak forests, and mountain rivers. With its mountain air, the area is considered suitable for relaxation and outings. The mineral water is also considered a balneological resource with therapeutic properties. This makes it a scenic destination distinct from the historic sites in the surrounding area.
Culture and historic routes
The nearby village of Voynezha is home to the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah, built in 1835. The Kilifarevo Monastery of the Nativity of the Mother of God is 19 kilometres from Voynezha and was founded by Theodosius of Tarnovo. At Brezheto stands a fortified settlement on a strategic peak, with views to the west, south, and east. Its stone perimeter wall is completely preserved.
The historic route also links distinctive landscape features: at Voneshta Voda, it crossed the Belitsa River over a bridge. Along the same route, the ascent continued westwards along the ridge of Great Chukar towards Tryavna. The river crossing and ascent are therefore part of the same historic route.
Choosing the right accommodation
If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Prodanovtsi, factor the property’s exact location into your plans for outings. Voynezha and Brezheto offer historic sites, Gramadliva Hut and Kladni Dyal are associated with hiking, and Voneshta Voda with its spring, forests, and rivers. Which of these interests matters most for your trip can also help determine where you stay. Plan each activity around the most suitable transport connection, and check conditions or timetables where relevant to your outing.
