Adrianópolis offers a range of nature and landscape attractions, from Parque Estadual das Lauráceas and rafting on the Rio Ribeira de Iguape to smaller natural sites.

Parque Estadual das Lauráceas

At approximately 30,001 hectares, Parque Estadual das Lauráceas is currently the largest state park in Paraná. Its mountainous terrain includes deep valleys, an extensive drainage network protected by the Atlantic Rainforest, as well as caves and limestone formations. The landscape also features waterfalls and mountains. The combination of terrain, water, and protected forest is associated with significant biological diversity.

The park is home to rare, endemic, or endangered animal species, including the purple-breasted parrot, the puma, the white-lipped peccary, and the tapir.

Parque Estadual das Lauráceas is not open to public visits. An exception is possible only in cases approved by the Diretoria do Patrimônio Natural. Anyone considering a visit to the protected area must therefore take this access restriction into account when planning.

Waterfalls and notable sites

Cachoeira Água do Bicho is a small waterfall between Epitácio and Perau. A local legend is associated with it: according to the story, a large creature at the source could occasionally make the water cloudy when it moved. This is a legend about the waterfall, not a statement about current water conditions.

Varadouro do Rio Ribeira de Iguape is also an important tourist site associated with Adrianópolis’ hydrology. Morro da Torre, in turn, is the site of the municipality’s telecommunications tower and is 838 meters high. These named sites therefore highlight different features: the waterfall and its legend, Varadouro’s connection to the river, and the hill with the municipal tower.

Rafting on the Rio Ribeira de Iguape

Rafting on the Rio Ribeira de Iguape in Adrianópolis covers 17 kilometers of rapids in the Vale do Ribeira region. The trip takes approximately three hours and 30 minutes. The actual time required depends, however, on the water level and the number of participants; at least 15 people are required for the activity to go ahead. Groups should therefore take into account both the approximate trip duration and the minimum group size. Do not plan the time as an exact finish time, as the duration varies with these conditions.

Rural tourism in the surrounding area

In the area around Adrianópolis, the Quilombola community of Córrego das Moças offers rural tourism with coffee and a country-style lunch. The produce used is grown and harvested by the community. The community also offers pick-your-own at an organic garden. If you plan to take part in these activities, confirm reservation details and current participation conditions locally in advance.

Road through Adrianópolis

Rodovia Sebastião Camargo, known as “Rastro da Serpente,” continues through Adrianópolis along BR-476. The road’s name and route through the town provide a practical point of reference for travelers interested in local roads.
