Bosanska Krupa can be explored in different ways: along paths and islands on the Una, through activities on the water and at cultural sites. If you are looking for accommodation for your stay, you can consider whether walks, culture or river experiences should guide your choice of activities. The options vary considerably—from benches on the Una islands to an art collection of 110 prints.
By the River and in Nature
At SRC “Ada,” the Unadžik tributary meets the Krušnica; their confluence forms a large river island. The Una’s river islands are called Ade. There are benches and opportunities to swim there, although seasonal water conditions may vary. The wooden bridges of Bosanska Krupa connect the banks of the Una with its river islands and make walks along the river possible. Ade and the bridges thus offer different ways to explore: the islands are about benches and swimming, while the bridges let you explore the banks and islands on foot.
The Šujnovac recreational area, about two kilometres from the town centre, offers a different kind of route. There is a forest path with benches and gentle ascents and descents; path conditions may change. The area around the Krušnica spring is also suitable for relaxation, excursions and walks, as well as spending time in nature. Bosanska Krupa also has cycling routes through natural surroundings. The forest path, riverbanks and cycling routes let you include different landscapes and ways of getting around in your trip.
Experience and Explore the Water
The Una and the Krušnica are fish-rich rivers and offer great opportunities for angling tourism. The “BUK” fishing area extends for about 2,000 metres, from “Himin buk” to the end of “Refkina ada.” Spinning and fly fishing with artificial lures are practised there, under a “catch and release” principle. Local regulations may apply to fishing.
Rafting on the Una takes you through rapids, waterfalls and calmer stretches of river. Water conditions and seasonal operations may vary. Trips on the traditional boats of the Unski lađari offer a different perspective on the river, allowing you to experience the Una as earlier residents of the region did. The tradition dates back to 1977; check locally whether trips are available.
The zipline and adrenaline bridge also cross the Una and its canyon at a great height, offering views of the landscape. Operations and safety procedures may change. These water experiences therefore differ both in form and in planning: rafting follows the transitions between rapids and calmer stretches, while boat trips combine a river perspective with a long-standing tradition.
Art and Cultural Heritage
The Gradska galerija Bosanska Krupa hosts exhibitions and preserves material of artistic or historical value as part of the cultural heritage. It includes the permanent Boško Karanović collection, with 110 prints. These prints were declared a national asset and monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina in March 2011.
Another cultural offering is the International Artists’ Colony Krušnica, which held its 56th edition in 2026. Artists from different generations and with different forms of artistic expression come together there. The gallery and artists’ colony thus represent different cultural offerings: a permanent collection of prints and exhibitions on the one hand, and a gathering of artists on the other.
Dvorište Tri Sestre includes the Gradska džamija and the churches of Blažene djevice Marije and Presvete Bogorodice. Stari grad Jezerski has been a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2003. These places add further cultural and heritage sites to the destination’s art offerings.
Getting Around Locally
Most places in Bosanska Krupa can be reached on foot; taxis and local bus routes are also available. Check their availability before your trip if you plan to use these forms of transport. Walking routes, cycling paths through natural surroundings and river experiences offer different ways to spend your time in the area.
