Živinice Grad combines protected cultural heritage with nature and recreational activities. The national monument in Priluk includes a wooden mosque and an oak forest with 145 pedunculate oaks; people swim and jump into the water at Rajsko Lake in Bašigovci in summer. To help plan your trip, consider whether culture, hiking trails or time by the water should shape your stay.

Cultural Heritage Between Monument and Museum

The wooden mosque in Priluk near Živinice is part of a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The protected complex includes the mosque, a harem with a cemetery, and an oak forest of 145 pedunculate oaks. The monument therefore comprises several distinct elements: religious architecture, a cemetery area and an oak forest. For travelers interested in cultural heritage, this combination is a distinctive highlight.

The stećak from Vrpolje is the only stećak with an inscription in the Živinice area. Its relief depicts a horseman carrying a long spear. In 2002, the stone was moved to the grounds in front of the primary school in Đurđevik. Unlike the multi-part complex in Priluk, this single stećak offers a different emphasis: the inscription and the equestrian motif take center stage.

Džebar Mosque is considered the oldest mosque in Tuzla Canton. Its museum preserves exhibits, old objects, documents and other elements of cultural heritage. A recurring event is also part of this cultural tradition: pilgrims visit the mosque on the first Saturday in August. If this visit is important to your travel plans, take the date into account when choosing your travel dates.

Hiking Trails, Lake and Recreation

Drenik Mountain offers established trails for hikers and nature lovers. The Drenik mountain lodge makes it possible to spend more time outdoors. The trails and lodge address different planning needs: a hike on the one hand, and more time outdoors on the other. As trail conditions can change, check their current state before setting out on a hike. Also check the lodge’s amenities before your trip.

Rajsko Lake in Bašigovci is a destination for day trips and recreational activities. In the summer months, the lake is used for swimming and jumping into the water; the beach can be used for walks. The lake water is considered extremely clean and is partly fed by underground springs. Water conditions can vary seasonally. If you are choosing between walking on trails and spending time by the water, the lake offers a reason to take a walk as well as summer water activities.

Ribnjak Priluk has prepared grassy areas for children; freshwater fish specialties are also served there. These details add a different focus to the options beyond monuments, hiking trails and the lake: an area for children and a specific food offering.

Choose a Focus for Your Stay

The season provides a clear guide: swimming and jumping into the water are summer activities at Rajsko Lake, and pilgrims visit Džebar Mosque on the first Saturday in August. If either of these dates shapes your trip, take it into account when choosing your travel dates.
