Near Gumping, the Pramtalweg combines a riverside landscape with a distinctive feature of the route: it runs between the unspoilt Pram River and a flood channel, which the trail crosses via a ford. When planning, this crossing is therefore important as well as the distance; conditions can change seasonally. Check the situation on site before setting out.
Hiking trails: route length and character
The Pramtalweg is 8.40 kilometres long. Zur alten Linde is a shorter alternative at 6.30 kilometres—a difference of 2.10 kilometres.
If you are considering other routes, you will find a variety of landscapes: the Wöginger Runde passes through fields, meadows and patches of woodland, with panoramic views of the Alpine foothills. Check trail conditions on site. The route also passes Alpaca-Gut Herrnberg, where walks with alpacas can be booked. Check availability and book a time in advance.
The Diersbacher Sagenweg is a circular trail that starts at Wirt z'Waging. It leads through a mysterious section along the Schnoizn and along a spur path to Teufl sein Predigtstuhl. The trail is associated with local legends. This sets it apart in theme from routes that focus mainly on the river, meadows, woodland and views.
Trees and waterways near Gumping
A small stand of trees lies beside an orchard meadow on a gentle slope in Gumping. Ash trees predominate, and there is also an oak. Southwest of Gumping, a belt of trees along both banks follows the Pram River. Tree species found there include oak, ash, maple, alder and willow. A belt of trees along the left bank of the natural Pram runs between Inding and Gumping.
Waterway sections in the municipality of Diersbach also shape the landscape: the Pram and Pfudabach have natural stretches with winding to meandering courses and accompanying gallery forests. A landscape survey from 1984 also describes a shrub thicket of almond willow and basket willow, as well as flowering crack willows, beside the Pram near Gumping. At the inner bend of the meander, white-flowered Alpine chervil was recorded at the time.
Church and regional cuisine
The Dr. Karl Mayr organ is located in Diersbach Parish Church. It is considered the second-largest organ in the Schärding district and the fourth-largest in the Innviertel. The church is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; tours can be arranged with the Diersbach parish office. Check opening hours and arrange a tour before your visit.
Wirt z'Waging serves Innviertel specialities and traditional dishes. These include ingredients such as bacon, milk, and beef and veal from its own small farm. As current business details may change, it is advisable to check before visiting.
Find a holiday apartment to suit your travel plans
When looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to first decide what you would like to focus on during your stay: do you want the Pram landscape and the Pramtalweg to be at the centre of your trip, or would you also like to explore other types of trails, the church and regional cuisine? Arrange dates separately for booked alpaca walks and church tours.
