Gaspoltshofen offers a variety of options for a stay: hiking trails with named landscape destinations, churches with their own architectural and art history, kinOptikum as a cinema museum, and a seasonal outdoor swimming pool. You can plan your visit around landscapes, history or culture.

Hiking by landscape destination and route

The Herkules Trail is 15 km long and reaches Ă–dberg, which, at 692 m, is the highest point in the municipality. The Gaspoltshofen Panorama Trail passes through the Hausruck Forest to the foot of Ă–dberg. The two trails therefore offer different perspectives on the same mountain: the Herkules Trail reaches the highest point, while the Panorama Trail passes through the forest to the foot of the mountain.

The other routes also have their own landscape features. The Venus Loop passes the Mostlandl ponds in Fading. The HÖR_GANG runs over Stömerberg to the legendary, idyllic Egellacke in Herrnholz. The Lies Roas starts at the middle school in Gaspoltshofen and runs from Föching towards Haag along the Haager-Lies route to Obergmain.

When choosing a route, you can compare its length, landscape destination and course: the Herkules Trail is listed as 15 km long; the Venus Loop and the HĂ–R_GANG focus on named destinations, while the Lies Roas is described by its starting point, direction and endpoint. This lets you choose based on whether a specific distance, a landscape destination or a described route matters most to you.

Churches: architectural history and furnishings

Gaspoltshofen Parish Church was built in its present form between 1732 and 1735 and is a major work by the Passau master builder Jakob Pawanger. Its magnificent Baroque furnishings include the famous Fisherman’s Pulpit and numerous artistic and historical treasures. Its construction period, architectural attribution and furnishings give the church different points of reference for its history and art history.

The Höft filial church adds its own traces of time: it was first mentioned in a document in 1565. According to a painted year, the Early Baroque altar was created in 1643; the Five Wounds Cross in the church was carved in 1894. Unlike the construction phase that dates the present form of the parish church, Höft’s history is marked by its first mention and two individually dated works of art.

Cinema museum and seasonal outdoor swimming pool

kinOptikum Gaspoltshofen is a cinema museum where visitors can get a behind-the-scenes look at the cinema. The museum includes a still-functioning projector, one of only a very few examples worldwide. Alongside the behind-the-scenes look, cinema technology is therefore a specific focus. If you are planning a visit, check the visiting arrangements in advance.

Gaspoltshofen outdoor swimming pool is near the town centre on the Innbach; the facility was established in 1935. The 500 m² main pool is designed for swimmers and non-swimmers. The pool operates seasonally, so check the current opening hours before visiting. This makes it possible to consider the pool as a seasonal leisure option alongside the hiking trails and cultural attractions.
