Winter hiking, cross-country skiing and a former paired farmstead offer three different ways to discover Volderau. There are also bus connections and a cycling map that marks Volderau. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can first match your travel dates to the activities you have planned: the winter sports information relates to specific seasons, while the bus connections refer to a dated timetable. The routes also differ in type—from a loop trail and a path leading to a specific destination to a cross-country ski trail.

Getting There and Timetable

The timetable introduced on 2 May 2026 provides for regional buses to Volderau every 15 minutes during the off-season. On weekday afternoons, the express service on line 591X runs from Innsbruck main station towards Volderau. Both details refer to this timetable; later timetables may differ. Note the different time periods when planning: the 15-minute service applies during the off-season, while line 591X runs on weekday afternoons. Check the connection for your travel day before setting off.

Winter Trails and Cross-Country Skiing

For the 2024/25 winter season, the Unterberg Loop in Falbeson was described as a winter loop trail measuring 9.6 km, taking about three hours to walk and with an elevation gain of 120 m. Winter Hiking Trail 5, the Unterberg Loop in Falbeson, starts in Volderau and climbs gently for about 45 minutes to Klaus Äuele near Falbeson. These details refer to different sections of the route: it takes about 45 minutes to reach the destination, Klaus Äuele, while 9.6 km and around three hours describe the loop. Seasonal conditions may affect accessibility. Check trail conditions before setting out.

The Neustift–Doadler Alm valley cross-country ski trail offers a different focus. For the 2024/25 winter season, it is listed as 13.7 km long and can be used for both skating and classic-style skiing. It runs through Volderau and continues to Falbeson. When weighing up cross-country skiing against walking trails, you can use the stated distance, walking time and type of use to make a comparison: the walking time for the Unterberg Loop is not a time estimate for the cross-country ski trail.

Destination Walks and History

A walking path to Klaus Äuele Park leads directly to the park via Gasteig and Volderau. Unlike a loop, this route has a specific destination—a useful point of reference if you would like to include a walk to a particular place in your plans.

Volderau also has a connection to architectural history: the Geieralm at Volderau 6 is the residential building of a former paired farmstead. If local architectural history is another factor in your travel decision, this offers a specific point of interest.

Cycling Route and Route Planning

The Stubai Cycling Route 19 is marked green along its entire length. Volderau is marked as one of the places shown on the route map. Check local conditions before setting off. The STUBAI K31 follows a different route: it first runs along the valley floor, past Volderau, and then climbs to Bacherwandalm at 1,620 m. This route is described in a 2024 brochure; check the current route before making specific plans.
