A village loop taking in chapels, a storytelling trail with puzzle stations and hiking trails to several named destinations give Oberperfuss a range of different highlights. In summer, scenic trails lead from the mountain lift area to huts, Rosskogel and Hundstalsee; Rangger Köpfl also offers disc golf, snowshoe hikes and a toboggan run. The parish church and the Anich-Hueber Museum add their own cultural and historical highlights. For planning, it helps to distinguish between the village route, mountain destinations and seasonal activities: this lets you tailor your stay to whether you want to focus on chapels, stories of art and life, or trails and leisure activities.

Village Trails and Activities on Rangger Köpfl

The Chapel Hike in Oberperfuss – Village Loop follows quiet, idyllic paths through the village, passing numerous chapels, some of which have been renovated. Its focus is therefore on the chapels along a village loop. By contrast, the Legends Trail on Rangger Köpfl focuses on stories: it has 21 stations featuring stories by primary school pupils from Oberperfuss. Each station has an information board, and five are puzzle stations. The main difference between the trails is their theme: chapels in the village on one, stories and puzzles on Rangger Köpfl on the other.

Rangger Köpfl also has a disc golf course with 18 holes. The difference from the Legends Trail is clear: stories and puzzles are the focus there, while the course is all about disc golf. This gives you two different themes to choose from when planning outings to suit your interests.

Church, Sundial and Museum

A sundial by Peter Anich is located on the exterior of the south side of Oberperfuss parish church. During renovation work in 1970, frescoes on the church vaults by Franz Altmutter were uncovered. The sundial is an exterior feature, while the paintings have a specific story of discovery. The Anich-Hueber Museum provides information about the work and achievements of Peter Anich and Blasius Hueber. While the sundial is attributed to Peter Anich, the museum covers the work of both figures. This means that in Oberperfuss you can find both a single feature of the parish church and a museum with a broader focus on the two names.

Mountain Lifts, Summer and Winter Activities

The ascent is divided between two consecutive lifts. The Peter-Anich I 8-person gondola runs from the valley station in Oberperfuss to the Stiglreith panoramic restaurant. From there, the Peter-Anich II 8-person gondola continues to Sulzstich, at around 1,800 metres. The order is important for orientation: first Stiglreith, then Sulzstich. The elevation given for Sulzstich is approximate, and the gondola lifts operate seasonally. So if you plan to use the lifts, check the timetable for your travel dates.

In summer, scenic hiking trails lead from the Oberperfuss mountain lift area to the Rosskogelhütte, Rosskogel, Peter-Anich-Hütte and Hundstalsee. These named destinations give you specific options when choosing a hike. Conditions vary from route to route, so plan according to your chosen destination and the specific trail.

Two different winter activities are mentioned at Rangger Köpfl. Eight of the toboggan run’s ten kilometres are illuminated, and snowshoe hikes are also possible. The lighting information applies to part of the toboggan run, while snowshoeing is a separate activity. Check current conditions and seasonal operations before planning a winter visit, so that seasonal information is taken into account in your decision.
