Around 20 kilometres of slopes, a 16-kilometre-long high-altitude trail and more than 250 kilometres of marked hiking paths offer different ways to experience the mountain landscape around Filzmoos. Other highlights include the panorama at Rossbrand and the Late Gothic Filzmooser Kindl, which pilgrims from near and far have been visiting for centuries. If you’re planning a stay, you can choose your focus based on the season and your interests: winter sports, hiking or cycling routes, and cultural highlights each offer a different perspective on the town.

Slopes, Funslope and High-Altitude Trail

The Filzmoos ski area is part of Salzburger Sportwelt in Ski amadé and offers around 20 kilometres of slopes in an impressive mountain landscape. It operates seasonally, so if you’re planning a winter trip, it’s worth checking the current operating hours.

The “filZOO” Funslope at the sixpack Mooslehen stretches for about one kilometre and combines movement, play and skiing. It adds a playful element to downhill skiing. There is also a 16-kilometre-long high-altitude trail at Rossbrand, with panoramic views. The mountain panorama there offers 360-degree views, including the Dachstein and more than 150 Alpine peaks reaching as far as the Hohe Tauern.

Hiking Trails and Cycling Routes

Filzmoos has more than 250 kilometres of marked hiking paths. Four long-distance hiking trails are named for Filzmoos: the Bischofsmütze Circular Trail, the Dachstein Circular Trail, the Salzburger Almenweg and the “Leonhardsweg” Pilgrimage Trail. When planning, you can first choose between the four named long-distance trails and the network of marked paths. The themed trails share information about plants, trees and stones, as well as the history of the people of this region. If you’d like to plan your hikes around a particular theme, these trails offer points of interest as well as a choice of routes.

For mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes, BIKEDORF Filzmoos offers twelve routes covering more than 150 kilometres in total, with all levels of difficulty. Cycling routes are distinguished by bike type and difficulty, while hiking is centred on the marked trail network and the named long-distance routes. These differences can help you decide which activities to focus on during your stay.

Cultural Highlights and Getting Around

The Filzmooser Kindl is a Late Gothic devotional image that pilgrims from near and far have been visiting for centuries. Filzmoos parish church is dedicated to the Apostles Peter and Paul. These religious connections complement the sports and landscape themes with a cultural focus. If history and religious tradition are also part of your destination choice, they are part of what defines Filzmoos.

The Papageno gondola lift departs directly from Filzmoos town centre. For rail travel, the nearest stations are in Eben im Pongau, 11 kilometres away; Radstadt, 18 kilometres away; and Bischofshofen, 30 kilometres away. Postbuses or taxis run from there to Filzmoos. Timetables and connections may change, so check the latest information before setting off.

The water temperature in all swimming pools at the Filzmoos leisure park is 30°C. If you’d like to include the leisure park in your day’s plans, check the latest visitor information before your visit.
