Nockstein, the Koppl Moor and the Manro Classic Auto&Musik Museum give a stay in Koppl a range of different highlights: views and trails, plant life, and vehicles and musical objects. When planning your trip, you can first decide whether you mainly want to spend time outdoors or also include a visit to the museum.

Nockstein: views and trails

At 1,042 metres, Nockstein is a popular destination for an excursion and the landmark of the municipality of Koppl. From Nockstein, the view stretches far across the Flachgau and Salzkammergut regions. It can be reached from Koppl’s municipal centre via trails No. 70, 70a and 72. A Nordic walking hiking map for Koppl is also available to download as a PDF. Check trail conditions locally before setting out.

The Koppl Moor as a natural environment

Various sedge species and heather grow throughout the Koppl Moor; the area is also home to various berry plants and orchids. Remnants of the Koppl Moor have also been preserved. The moor is an attractive natural environment for hikers and nature enthusiasts and should be treated with care. While the sweeping views take centre stage at Nockstein, the vegetation and preserved moor remnants shape the natural landscape of the moor.

Classic cars, music and archery

Visitors can see classic cars and motorcycles at the Manro Classic Auto&Musik Museum. The collection also includes nostalgic jukeboxes, musical instruments and automobilia. The cultural offering therefore extends beyond vehicles: musical objects complement the automotive exhibits. A Carrera slot-car track offers another activity. Modelled on the neighbouring Salzburgring, it lets visitors race a lap.

Another outdoor activity is the Koppl archery course, located in a wooded area below Nockstein. It adds archery to the hiking and nature offerings. The location of the course and the routes to Nockstein are separate details: the archery course is in the wooded area, while trails No. 70, 70a and 72 lead from the municipal centre to Nockstein.

Getting here and planning routes

Regional bus 150, “Bad Ischl”, runs from Salzburg Central Station to Koppl. Check the timetable for your travel date, as schedules may change. Another route option is “From Koppl via Gaisberg to Glasenbach”; it starts at the Koppl Sperrbrücke stop. Local trail and stop conditions may change. Before setting out, check the information for the route and stop you plan to use.

Choosing your stay

If you’re looking for hotels in Koppl, first decide which experiences you want to shape your stay: the views and trails at Nockstein, the Koppl Moor, or the museum’s vehicle and music exhibits.
