Listed buildings, a 25-kilometre cycling and hiking tour, and local nature and produce themes shape the choices in Draßmarkt. You can focus your stay on ecclesiastical and historic buildings, plan the moderate route through the Landseer Berge Nature Park as an activity, or add seasonal swimming and local production. For planning, it is particularly helpful to distinguish between the clearly defined tour and the individual themes in the town: the 25-kilometre distance and moderate rating give the route its own framework.
Parish Church, Chapels and Pillory
The Roman Catholic parish church of Draßmarkt is a listed building in the municipality of Draßmarkt in the Oberpullendorf district of Burgenland. It is dedicated to Saint Andrew and belongs to the Oberpullendorf deanery in the Diocese of Eisenstadt. Three other listed religious buildings can be distinguished by their locations: the Chapel of St John of Nepomuk is at Hauptstraße 51 in 7372 Draßmarkt, the Chapel of the Holy Cross is opposite Kirchenplatz 1, and the Mariahilf Chapel is opposite Mariengasse 33. The entries for all three chapels in the Burgenland register of historic monuments are dated 19 June 2026; they are protected as listed buildings under the regulation. The Draßmarkt pillory on Kirchenberg adds a different type of structure: a stone pillar with four niches and a court arm. This lets you distinguish between the parish church’s ecclesiastical affiliation, the chapels’ specific locations and the pillory’s distinctive form.
A Tour Through the Landseer Berge Nature Park
The cycling and hiking tour through the Landseer Berge Nature Park is 25 km long and rated moderate. It runs from Weingraben through Draßmarkt and on to Kaisersdorf, then through deciduous and mixed forests to Neudorf bei Landsee. Its route, distance and difficulty level give you a clear framework for planning. As a cycling and hiking tour, it has a different focus from the individual cultural themes in the town. At 25 km, it is a substantial activity that you can plan as a separate part of your trip.
Beaver Habitat at the Dorfaubach
A nature conservation notice dated 9 March 2023 describes the Draßmarkt beaver habitat on the Dorfaubach as an example of how beavers can be integrated into today’s cultural landscape. It characterises it as a positive example of nature-friendly and conscientious land management. The theme complements the deciduous and mixed forests along the route with a perspective on caring for nature in a managed landscape. If you are interested in the relationship between nature and the cultural landscape, the beaver habitat offers a distinct thematic perspective.
Seasonal Swimming
The Draßmarkt outdoor pool is a family-friendly leisure destination and a seasonal facility. It has a sports pool with a non-swimmer area, as well as a children’s pool with an elephant slide. The pool therefore offers two areas with different facilities. Opening dates may change; renovations or seasonal changes may also affect the facilities. Check current dates and available facilities before your visit.
Wine and Homemade Pasta
Weingut Strass has its wine cellar in Draßmarkt. The hand-picked grapes are processed there, and the wines are left to mature undisturbed. If you plan to visit, check the arrangements before you arrive. Werkovits – Die Nudel-Manufaktur has been making homemade pasta for over 20 years. Draßmarkt thus focuses on a range of local products: wine, whose production involves processing and maturation, and homemade pasta with a production history spanning more than two decades. These themes complement the buildings, nature route and seasonal outdoor pool with tangible insights into local production.
