Minihof-Liebau focuses on arable farming, milling and film history. The Grain Trail tells the story of the development of arable farming, while at the Jost Mill visitors can experience the journey from grain to bread. The Film and Retro Museum adds a distinctive touch with film history and nostalgic cultural artefacts; at the Fartek Oil Mill, a demonstration of pressing is paired with a pumpkin seed oil tasting. The focus is therefore on a variety of discoveries—from historical change and processing to collection pieces.

Arable Farming and Trail Stops

The Grain Trail tells the story of arable farming from the Neolithic Age to modern methods. The named stops help visitors find their way along the trail: it begins at the aviaries, a species conservation project in Minihof-Liebau, and ends at the Jost Mill. Naturwinkel Saufuss is an intermediate stop on the Grain Trail. This makes it easy to distinguish the starting point, an intermediate stop and the destination; at the same time, species conservation, nature and animals, and the mill each represent different areas of interest.

From Grain to Bread at the Jost Mill

At the Jost Mill, visitors can experience the journey from grain to bread up close. Guided tours are available on request and may cover types of grain and flour, how to identify and use them, nutrition tips, as well as cooking and baking courses. The focus is therefore not solely on the end product: possible tour topics range from distinguishing between varieties to their uses. Anyone interested in food and processing can see the connection between varieties, uses and cooking in the tour topics. As tour content may vary, check when making your enquiry which topics are planned for your visit.

Film History at the Retro Museum

The Minihof Liebau Film and Retro Museum consists of four exhibition rooms and welcomes visitors of all ages. Its focus is film history and nostalgic cultural artefacts from various decades. Exhibits include film posters, star portraits, film programmes and autographs; historical playback devices and special rarities add to the collection. The selection therefore ranges from visual and written memorabilia to historical technology. Unlike the hands-on exploration of grain and flour, the focus here is on film culture and the objects associated with it.

Naturwinkel Saufuss and Fartek Oil Mill

Naturwinkel Saufuss is not only an intermediate stop on the Grain Trail, but also a place where farm animals are shown. Injured wild animals are also taken in there, cared for until they recover and, if possible, released back into the wild. A prior telephone appointment is required for guided tours of the entire site.

At the Fartek Oil Mill, a pumpkin seed oil tasting follows a demonstration of the pressing process. The experience combines an insight into the processing step with the chance to sample the finished product, giving the culinary side of your stay a tangible connection to how it is made. As operational details may change, check the latest visitor information before your visit.
