Parks, recurring children’s programs, and local history give visitors different ways to experience Haslet. Haslet Community Park offers several outdoor activities, while the library and Community Center provide programs with set days of the week and target age groups. To plan your stay, start by looking at the activities you actually want to attend and work their dates into your itinerary.

Parks with Different Offerings

Haslet Community Park offers three different ways to spend time outdoors: an 18-hole disc golf course, a sand volleyball area, and walking trails. If you want to play disc golf, you’ll find an 18-hole course here; volleyball and walking are other options in the same park. This lets you shape your plans around the activity you want, rather than assuming all three offerings involve the same kind of visit.

John Gammill Park has an enclosed play area for people with different abilities. The park also has a covered pavilion and public restrooms. These amenities add specific places for play and a place to spend time. Since park amenities can change, check the current information before your visit, especially if you’re planning to use a particular facility.

Children’s Programs by Age and Day of the Week

Story Yoga is designed for toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers. It takes place on the third Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. at the Haslet Community Center. The program combines movement and yoga-inspired stretches with music and sensory experiences. Mother Goose on the Loose Storytime also takes place at the Haslet Community Center on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. It includes music and movement, a sign language lesson, books, songs, and a craft. Both programs are on the same day of the week at the same time, but their activities differ.

Another program for children is Reading to Rover at the Haslet Public Library. During the school year, certified therapy dogs Bella and Honey visit twice a month. Children read to the dogs for 15 minutes each. The program combines a brief reading session with a chance to meet the two animals. If you want to attend one of these programs, check the date in advance: the listed times and schedules may change.

Tai Chi classes are also offered in Haslet. They take place on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. at Haslet Community Park. This provides another recurring option alongside the children’s programs and park activities. For a short stay, you can plan around a specific class or event; for longer stays, it’s worth checking out several different program days.

December Event and Local History

Christmas in the Park takes place every year in December. The 2026 event is scheduled for December 5. Announced activities include a snow slide and a ride on the Polar Express train; the program may change. So check the details before you visit. This seasonal event differs from the recurring weekly offerings: it gives you a specific reason to visit in December, while Tai Chi and the children’s programs take place on certain days of the week.

You can also explore local history through specific sites and stories. The Blue Mound School, later known as Haslet School, was moved about half a mile north to the current site of the Haslet School Building. According to the account of how Haslet got its name, the town is connected to Joel C. Harmmond, described as a railroad entrepreneur from Haslett, Michigan. In 1883, the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway tracks were extended through the Haslet area. Photographs at the Haslet Public Library document farms, schools, and churches as aspects of Haslet, Texas’s development. Together, these topics show different sides of local history without reducing it to a single school or railroad line.
