The Galatyn Park station on DART’s Red Line is a few hundred feet from the Eisemann Center’s main entrance. For travelers planning a visit to the Center, it’s a specific point of reference for getting there. Richardson also brings together visual art, festival stages, city trails and extensive parkland. The focus of your stay also affects your planning: a festival date needs to be approached differently from a gallery’s opening hours or the seasonal operation of a recreational facility.

Art, performances and visiting hours

The Forrest & Virginia Green Mezzanine Gallery at the Eisemann Center is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This gives a gallery visit a clearly specified time frame. Opening hours may change, so check them before your visit.

The City of Richardson’s Cottonwood Art Festival takes place twice a year and showcases national and local visual artists in a juried exhibition. The Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival has six stages; the stage lineup may change.

A chapter in local history

Miss Belle’s House is the oldest building in Richardson and a Texas Historic Landmark. In August 2025, it was moved to a permanent location in Huffhines Park. Its age, landmark designation and relocation offer distinct historical perspectives: the designation identifies the building as a historic landmark, while the move adds to its more recent local history.

Art and outdoor trails

The Central Trail runs along US 75 from the city’s northern boundary to its southern boundary. Its northern section includes eight public artworks featured on the city’s Public Art Walk. The trail therefore combines a north–south route with a specific art focus in its northern section.

A trail connects the Spring Creek Nature Area in the north with Galatyn Park Plaza in the south. For orientation, the two named endpoints are useful: the trail leads from a nature area to a plaza in the southern part of the city.

Breckinridge Park encompasses 417 acres of open space, where you can walk along Rowlett Creek. Walking conditions may vary seasonally. Across the city, Richardson has 30 parks and more than 40 miles of hiking and biking trails. The park describes a specific place and a walk along the creek, while the citywide figures provide a broader overview of parks and trails.

Recreational activities with different conditions

The Heights Family Aquatic Center offers lap swimming, recreational swimming, a children’s splash area and water slides. It operates seasonally, and amenities may change. Check current seasonal hours and notices before your visit.

The Richardson Gymnastics Center offers recreational classes focused on coordination, strength, flexibility and motor skills. Classes are open to residents and nonresidents; registration requirements may change. This makes it easy to distinguish the options by the focus you’re looking for: water activities at the Aquatic Center or classes centered on movement and motor skills.

The different schedules are also relevant for planning: the gallery lists specific days and hours, the Aquatic Center operates seasonally, and festival dates should be checked if you’re interested in attending. If you’re looking for a hotel in Richardson, your planned focus—festivals, public art or parks—can be a useful starting point for your search.
