Historic railroads, video game history and trails through wetlands give Frisco its distinctive character. If you’re planning your stay around specific interests, you’ll find a range of options here: the Frisco Heritage Center features historic buildings and railroad artifacts, while the Cottonwood Creek Greenbelt includes trails, ponds and wetlands. Other attractions focus on art, science and technology.
Historic Buildings and Railroads
The Frisco Heritage Center is a historic park where visitors can see historic buildings, a steam locomotive and a wooden caboose. The buildings and railcars offer different perspectives on the site’s history: alongside the architecture are tangible railroad artifacts.
As part of “Rails, Trails, & Tales,” a 90-minute guided walk is offered in Heritage Village. Advance inquiries are recommended. The duration gives this activity a clearly defined time frame.
Trails and Nature Watching
The Cottonwood Creek Greenbelt is a 77-acre natural area with nearly two miles of trails, wetlands and ponds. Platforms are provided for fishing and wildlife watching. Alongside the trails, two specific activities at the platforms take center stage: observing wildlife and fishing.
Trains, Video Game History and Sculptures
The Museum of the American Railroad features full-size real trains and G-scale model trains. Access to the locomotive and railcar collection is limited to scheduled tours. Check current tour options before your visit.
The National Videogame Museum is the only museum in America dedicated to the history of the video game industry. This gives it a clear thematic focus, distinct from the railroad exhibits.
The Texas Sculpture Garden is considered the largest private collection of contemporary Texas sculptures ever assembled and made accessible to the public. The setting is also designed to complement the art: winding walking paths, lush plantings, lakes and fountains provide a backdrop for the works. The sculptures and landscape are therefore both part of the garden’s concept. In Frisco, the two locations offer visitors distinct experiences: the Cottonwood Creek Greenbelt focuses on wetlands and nature watching, while the Texas Sculpture Garden features art in a landscaped setting.
Hands-On Science and Soccer History
The Sci-Tech Discovery Center offers children of all ages and backgrounds hands-on discovery experiences in science, mathematics and technology. Its combination of several fields of knowledge and practical exploration gives the center a different profile from attractions focused on railroads or video games.
The National Soccer Hall of Fame is located at the south end of Toyota Stadium. This specific location adds a soccer-related destination to the selection.
