When looking for accommodation for a stay in Las Vegas, you can start by basing your choice on your own interests. The topics featured here range from a botanical garden and trails to the history of a fort, neon signs and interactive museum exhibits. Nature, local history and different types of exhibits offer a range of focal points for your trip.

Botanical Garden, Trails and a Narrated Ride

Springs Preserve brings together several attractions related to nature and the landscape. The botanical garden covers eight hectares. The trails are 3.5 miles long in total and pass through 110 hectares of native habitats and archaeological sites. The garden and trail network offer different focal points: one is the botanical grounds, while the other takes you through habitats and archaeological sites.

Another option is the narrated round-trip ride on a trackless train to Boomtown 1905. It takes eight minutes. The schedule may change depending on the weather, road conditions and special events; check it before your visit. This short ride can be considered as a separate attraction without confusing its duration with the length of the Preserve's trails.

History of the Mormon Fort

The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort preserves historic remains of an adobe fort built in 1855 by Mormon missionaries beside a spring-fed stream. Exhibits and photographs at the visitor center illustrate the history of the site. The structural remains and their historical context at the visitor center thus complement each other.

The day of the week is important when planning your visit: the fort is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; last admission is at 4:00 p.m. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Check the opening hours before you travel, especially if your stay leaves only a limited window for this visit.

Neon Collection and Museum Exhibits

The Neon Museum has an outdoor exhibition area called the Neon Boneyard. The North Gallery houses the immersive audiovisual experience “Brilliant! Jackpot.” The current figures give an idea of the collection and exhibition: the museum currently preserves 250 neon signs and displays 31 electrified signs in the Neon Boneyard. These figures may change. Neon enthusiasts can distinguish an outdoor exhibition from an immersive audiovisual experience.

At the DISCOVERY Children's Museum, The Summit is a large, multi-story exhibit: the tower is 70 feet tall and has twelve levels that extend across all three floors of the museum. Water World is an interactive exhibit where children can learn about water conservation, sustainability and the science behind one of southern Nevada's most important resources. The two attractions differ in form and subject: one is a tall tower with multiple levels, while the other is an interactive exhibit focused on water.
