A mile long, with separate lanes for bicycles and pedestrians, the Beach Path gives Bal Harbour a clear focus for outdoor activity. Sea grapes provide cooling shade along the path. There is also art right on the Beach Path—a distinctive pairing of a path and a public artwork that makes the area interesting to culturally minded travelers, too.

Beach Path: Activity and Art

People traveling on foot have their own lane; bicycles have a separate lane. The Beach Path is one mile long. This gives you a concrete reference point when you want to include a walk or bike ride in your plans. Sea grapes provide cooling shade along the path.

Also located on the Beach Path is “Sphinx” by Marc Quinn, featuring the Kate Moss Yoga Pose. If you’re interested in public art, you can pair a visit to this work with a look at other art sites in Bal Harbour. The artworks on display may change; if you’re planning a visit specifically to see “Sphinx,” check whether it is still on the path.

Water Views at Bal Harbour Waterfront Park

At Bal Harbour Waterfront Park, an open observation platform offers views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The park also has a public dock with a kayak launch. Important for planning: access to the park is reserved for registered Bal Harbour residents and their guests. The dock and launch therefore do not make the park a stop open to the general public. If you are an authorized guest and would like to use the kayak launch, check its operational accessibility before your visit.

Public Art and Museum Access

Unscripted Bal Harbour is a public art program founded in 2013 to support the arts in South Florida. Among the art sites mentioned is the Jetty, where colorful sculptures by Rotraut are displayed. The art offering extends beyond the work on the Beach Path to include different locations and forms of public art.

The Unscripted Bal Harbour Art Access Card gives residents and guests free access to museums and art institutions in South Florida. If you’re planning to visit museums and institutions elsewhere in the region as well as the artworks in town, this access is a separate point to consider. This lets you plan for public art and museum visits as two distinct interests during your trip.

Getting Around with Freebee and Route 125

Two transportation services with different functions are described. The Freebee service offers residents and visitors door-to-door transportation within its service areas. For your intended origin and destination, check whether both are within the relevant service area.

Miami-Dade Transit Route 125 serves Bal Harbour and runs on weekdays and weekends from the MDC North Terminal via 125/119 St to Surfside. Unlike the door-to-door service, it is a scheduled route with named endpoints and a stated route. If you’re planning to take Route 125 on a specific travel day, check the schedule.

Events and Shopping

Bal Harbour hosts the Sounds by the Sea music series throughout the year. The series is open to Bal Harbour residents and hotel guests. For your plans, it’s worth checking the event dates and coordinating your visit with the local offerings that interest you.

Bal Harbour Shops brings together designer boutiques, department stores and restaurants in a lush, tropical garden setting. Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue are the anchor stores; the mix of individual stores may change over time. Bal Harbour offers a variety of interests side by side: activity on the Beach Path, public art, a music series and shopping with restaurants in one place.
