Eight acres and 35 historic buildings make Centennial Village Museum a tangible gateway to Greeley’s history. The open-air museum preserves and shares the American Western heritage of the Colorado Plateau. Costumed interpreters bring the past of Weld County to life.

Discover Greeley’s History and Art

Greeley History Museum focuses on a different perspective: visitors explore the founding of the Union Colony, the region’s agricultural heritage, water use, and Greeley’s development over time. These themes can be read as a connected story—from the settlement’s beginnings through agriculture and water to the city’s transformation.

Meeker Home Museum tells the story of Greeley’s founding family through original furnishings and rare artifacts. It is the city’s oldest building, but is currently closed. Instead of an in-person museum visit, a virtual exhibit and interpretive signs outside are available. Check its current status before making plans, as it may change.

Greeley’s public art collection offers another cultural perspective. It includes more than 350 rotating indoor works and more than 220 outdoor works. As works are added or rotated, the numbers may change. Alongside the museums, indoor and outdoor artworks are also part of the city’s cultural offerings.

Trails and Nature Along the Cache la Poudre River

The 86-acre Signature Bluffs Natural Area sits along the Cache la Poudre River and offers abundant wildlife. Canoes and kayaks can be used on the pond, and unpaved trails lead to more secluded areas. Water activities and trails offer different ways to experience the natural area.

The 21-mile paved Poudre River Trail offers a different type of route. It is suitable for walking, cycling, running, and roller skating. Its eastern end is in Greeley at 11th Avenue and D Street, near Island Grove Regional Park. The choice of trail depends on what you’re looking for: the trail is paved and suited to several activities, while the Signature Bluffs trails are unpaved and lead to more secluded areas. Check current trail conditions before your visit.

Things to Do at Island Grove Regional Park

Island Grove Regional Park is home to Aven’s Village, a fully accessible playground. Island Grove Splash Park offers free interactive water play during the hot summer months. Unlike the playground, the water play area is seasonal, so check operating dates before your trip.

More Options for Planning Your Trip

Greeley also has golf. Boomerang Links is a links-style championship golf course with 18 holes, tall native grasses, and more than 50 bunkers. Since 1964, Highland Hills has been recognized as one of Northern Colorado’s leading championship golf courses.

The Independence Day Parade is part of the long-standing Greeley Stampede tradition. It features more than 120 floats and 40,000 spectators; the scale may vary from year to year. If the parade is important to your travel dates, check the schedule for the year you plan to visit.
