Canoe Routes and Beaches

The Orange Beach Canoe Trail has twelve designated canoe route access points along the shores of Wolf Bay, Bay La Launch, Arnica Bay, Bayou St. John and Cotton Bayou. The Canoe Trail access points are open only during daylight hours. In addition, everyone in a canoe must wear a personal flotation device. Take both conditions into account when planning your day.

If you’re more interested in the beach, Gulf State Park has a total of more than 3.5 miles of white sand beaches. They can be reached both from the main park area in Gulf Shores and from access points in Orange Beach. Paddling on designated canoe routes and spending time on white sand beaches are two different ways to plan your time on the water.

Art and Local History

The Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach has a 10,000-square-foot fine art gallery showcasing works by Gulf Coast artists. Visitors can make their own glass object in the Hot Shop. The arts center offers two distinct ways to engage: viewing exhibited works and taking part in an activity where you can make a glass object yourself.

The building that houses the Orange Beach History Museum was originally built as a schoolhouse in 1910 and has served as a museum since 1995. The museum preserves local artifacts and memorabilia about the history of Indigenous peoples and the history of fishing. If you’d like to include local history as well as art, you’ll find both the building’s former use and these two collection themes here.

Tours, Events and a Playground

The Wharf Marina offers sunset cruises, sailing trips, and dolphin and nature tours. Unlike the designated canoe routes, it offers a choice of different excursions. If a boat trip is to be an important part of your stay, check the dates and availability for your travel dates.

The Wharf Amphitheater is an outdoor venue with 10,000 seats. Artists performing there span country, hip-hop and rock ’n’ roll. If you’re considering Orange Beach for an event, plan around the specific event date.

Edward H. Carroll, Sr. Kids Park is part of Waterfront Park. If a playground is part of your plans, you can keep this location in mind as a specific point of reference when making your choice.

Choosing the Right Focus for Your Hotel Search

First, consider whether beaches and canoe routes, art and local history, or a particular trip or event matters most to you. This priority gives your search for a hotel in Orange Beach a clear direction without combining different experiences into a fixed itinerary. For tours and events tied to specific dates, check the dates and availability for your travel period.
