Silk craftsmanship, mackerel dishes and agricultural learning sites give Krasang District a rural character. For planning your trip, a themed selection can help: the Ban Thung Sawang OTOP Nawatwithi route combines crafts and cuisine, while learning centers and farms focus on other aspects of agriculture.

Silk Craftsmanship and Local Cuisine

The Ban Thung Sawang OTOP Nawatwithi community is presented as a creative tourism route in Moo 7 of Sung Noen Subdistrict. One highlight is a demonstration of traditional silk reeling: it begins with the selection of silkworm cocoons and continues through to spinning the silk fibers. This makes the complete process from cocoon to fiber visible. For travelers interested in textile crafts, this connection between the individual steps offers a particularly vivid insight.

Local dishes are also part of the route's character. They include Nam Phrik Jrawa Dong, a coconut milk dip with mackerel, as well as traditional Khanom Tom Mat in a coconut leaf. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients from the community and served with local vegetables and boiled eggs. Crafts and cuisine are therefore two distinct aspects of the same route: one focuses on silk processing, while the other showcases regional dishes.

Agritourism and Rural Learning Sites

The Ban Nong Khon Organic Learning Center is known as an agritourism site based on the Khok-Nong-Na model. It also applies the principles of the Sufficiency Economy. This focus combines agriculture with learning and an explicitly named economic philosophy.

The Baan Na Baan Rao Farm in Chum Saeng Subdistrict has a different agricultural profile. It opened on nearly 200 rai as an integrated agricultural learning center and destination for combined agritourism. Its agricultural profile combines the cultivation of various date palm varieties, the raising of several cattle breeds and organic farming. By comparison, the Ban Nong Khon Organic Learning Center focuses on the Khok-Nong-Na model and the Sufficiency Economy. The two sites thus emphasize different aspects of agritourism.

Ancient Settlement Remains and a Temple

The ancient community of Ban Krasang is a distinct point of interest for older settlement remains. A ONEP heritage listing revised in 2021 describes two sets of ring moats, each 0.6 kilometers in diameter. The moats and earthen embankments are partly preserved but now faintly visible; some areas are used by local residents.

Another cultural landmark is Wat Cholprathan Ratchadamri, a Buddhist temple in Sung Noen Subdistrict. Together, these details offer a themed selection between ancient settlement remains and a Buddhist temple, without conflating the two.

Getting Around and Finding a Place to Stay

Sung Noen Subdistrict is served by the Krasang–Plappla Chai bus route, which runs there throughout the day. Check the schedule before setting off so you can plan your arrival. You can then base your search for accommodation on your own interests, whether you are more interested in crafts and cuisine, agriculture or culture.

Buriram as a Broader Travel Destination

The broader destination of Buriram offers further landscape and cultural attractions. Phanom Rung Historical Park is located on an extinct volcano in Ta Pek. According to inscriptions and architectural remains, the area had been an ancient settlement since the 15th Buddhist century. The annual tradition of the ascent is observed from April 2 to 4 or on the full moon day of the fifth lunar month; during this time, the first morning light shines through all 15 gates. Check the specific dates before your trip.

Another landscape attraction in Buriram is Khao Kradong Forest Park, a recreational area with an ancient volcano and a clearly visible crater. The summit can be reached by climbing a staircase with 297 steps or by car. Check current conditions for these options before your trip.
