When visiting Jian, you can group destinations in the surrounding Ji’an Township by their focus: cultural history, trail route or a water-based activity. The cultural plaza links a former use of the site with its present-day design. Two trails differ both in length and function; there is also a foot bath in the shade. This makes it easier to start planning by deciding whether you are most interested in local history, a trail connection, an uphill trail or bathing your feet by the water.
Cultural Plaza and Local History
Ji’an Township Hakka Art Village is located next to Qingfeng Market on the site of the former Yoshino immigrant village. After the Eight-Year War of Resistance, the site was used as a military camp; today, it is a cultural plaza featuring a tung blossom design motif. The site’s history thus spans its former role as an immigrant village, its use as a military camp and its present-day function as a cultural plaza.
The site’s history and design emphasize different aspects: the village and military uses tell the story of the site’s past, while the tung blossom motif defines its present-day design. The adjacent Qingfeng Market offers an additional landmark. Visitors who choose this cultural plaza can explore the site through its changing uses and current design motif; this sets it apart from the following options, which are distinguished primarily by their trail routes.
Two Trails with Different Routes
The Xiangyang Trail is about 4.5 kilometers long, starts at the end of the Sunlight Trail and runs uphill along the mountainside. If you are considering a longer route with an uphill climb, you can assess this trail by its length, starting point and hillside location.
The approximately 1.2-kilometer path connects the Qinshanxian Cycling Path to the north with the Water Engineering Ecology Trail to the south. Its focus is therefore not an uphill route, but the connection between two named trails. The comparison answers a practical planning question: are you looking for a path that connects two routes, or a longer trail that climbs uphill along the mountainside? The approximate lengths help compare the distances; the connections and routes offer further points of distinction.
Foot Bathing by the Water
The foot bath adds a different kind of activity to the cultural plaza and trail options. Visitors can bathe their feet in the shade in water from the underground channel of the Chuying Power Plant. Unlike the trails, the focus here is on the water source and the shade. This activity offers a distinct theme alongside the cultural plaza’s historical perspective and trail planning, without requiring a further route. If you prefer water-based activities, the foot bath offers a separate focus alongside culture and trails. It is therefore a standalone option for travelers interested in an activity by the water, alongside culture and trails.
