Vers-chez-Perrin is a hamlet in the municipality of Payerne in the canton of Vaud. When planning a stay, the main attractions are a Vita course that runs entirely through the forest, a mountain bike skills course and the Chapelle de Vers-chez-Perrin. There is also a mixed choir and the Auberge de Vers-chez-Perrin, which has a restaurant. The hamlet shares postcode 1551 with neighbouring Etrabloz.

Forest and two different trails

The Vita course starts behind Vers-chez-Perrin, is 2.6 km long and runs entirely through the forest. Parking is available for this course. The mountain bike skills course is in the Bois de l’Hôpital in Vers-chez-Perrin and is an 800 m loop. This gives you two clearly distinct routes to choose from: the forest route of the Vita course and a shorter loop for practising mountain bike skills. Mountain bikers can practise their technique on the course from Chalet Blanche-Neige. The loop is maintained by the Vélo Club Payerne and is open to everyone, not just club members. The layout of the obstacles may change. After cycling, a fire pit for grilling is available at the course; confirm its availability on site.

Chapel, choir and local history

The Chapelle de Vers-chez-Perrin is one of the hamlet’s attractions. Its immediate grounds include a lawn and large trees, and parking is available right next to the chapel. Given its location and design, it is also suitable for a wedding blessing or a baptism. If you are planning such a celebration, be sure to confirm arrangements in advance. La Chanson des Hameaux adds a musical dimension: the mixed choir comes from Vers-chez-Perrin and the hamlets of Payerne. It performs French, classical, religious and folk music in several languages.

The hamlet’s history is also connected to the forests. Vers-chez-Perrin belongs to the group known as the Hameaux de Payerne. Its residents have had rights to use the forests of the former Abbey of Payerne since 1519; since 1862, these forests have been managed by the Régie des Hameaux de Payerne. This historical connection adds a local perspective to the forest trail.

Accommodation, restaurant and picnic facilities

The Auberge de Vers-chez-Perrin is situated on the heights above Payerne in a rural setting. It has a bicycle garage for passing guests and cycle tourists, as well as an on-site restaurant. These are practical aspects to consider when choosing accommodation for a cycling trip.

The Chalet Blanche neige is equipped as a picnic facility with two tables, four benches and a wood-burning stove. The outdoor area can accommodate up to 30 people, while the indoor area can accommodate about 15. The information distinguishes between the outdoor and indoor areas, which is useful when planning for a group. This makes it possible to combine accommodation and meals with the local facilities best suited to your needs, without assuming that the mountain bike loop and the chalet are one and the same place.
