More than 150 km of hiking trails high above Lake Walen and a varied range of winter activities give Flumserberg its seasonal appeal. When planning your trip, it is therefore important to first consider which activities suit the time of year you are travelling: in summer, options include mountain bike trails and the summer toboggan run; in winter, you can choose from activities such as winter hiking, snowshoe routes and cross-country skiing. The GeoGalerie and alpine cheese dairy add cultural and culinary experiences to the programme.

Hiking trails with different focuses

The Flumserberg hiking area has more than 150 km of hiking trails. Those interested in plant life will find a themed focus on the Alpine Flora Trail, which showcases the diversity of special Alpine plants and the region’s botanical treasures.

Two routes with different itineraries start at Maschgenkamm. The Ziger circular route is suitable for pushchairs; the 7-Peak Tour leads from there over seven peaks and back to Tannenboden. This gives you a choice between a circular route explicitly described as suitable for pushchairs and a tour over several peaks. Check conditions before setting out on the Ziger circular route; conditions and lift operations for the 7-Peak Tour depend on the season.

Winter hiking, snowshoes and cross-country skiing

The winter hiking trail network covers 35 km and offers views of the Spitzmeilen area, the Churfirsten and Lake Walen. Snowshoe hikes are another option: three officially signposted routes cover a total of 11 km. Two easy routes start in Panüöl, but differ in length and itinerary. Snowshoe Trail Plattis No. 730 is a 3 km circular route that starts and ends in Panüöl. The also-easy Panüöl–Prodalp Trail No. 731 runs for 4 km from Panüöl to Prodalp. Access depends on snow and winter conditions.

A route is available for ski tourers on the groomed and signposted Spiga piste No. 1. During the day, ski touring is permitted only on piste No. 1 between Tannenheim, Spiga and Prodkamm. Check the local rules in force before setting out.

The other winter activities also vary by type: the moderately difficult 3 km toboggan run from Prodalp to Tannenheim is subject to snow and seasonal conditions. Flumserberg also has 20 km of cross-country ski trails. At Alp Tannenboden, a marked 2 km skating trail is open to dogs and their owners. The Flumserberg Swiss Ski School offers ski and snowboard lessons for children, young people and adults of all ability levels; lesson times are seasonal.

Summer activities on paths and trails

BikerBerg Flumserberg offers four mountain bike trails: BlueSalamander and BlueBunny are easy, while RedFox and RedRock are moderately difficult. Trail conditions can change. Another standout summer activity is the FLOOMZER summer toboggan run, which is over 2 km long. It covers 250 metres of elevation and reaches speeds of up to 40 km/h. Check the operating dates of this seasonal attraction before your trip.

The Prodalp plateau has a seasonal adventure golf course with 12 holes and unusual obstacles. The CLiiMBER climbing tower is a separate climbing attraction: it is 15 m high and has more than 100 climbing stations across three levels. Before visiting, check the operating dates and applicable safety requirements.

GeoGalerie and alpine cheese dairy

At 15 stations, the Flumserberg GeoGalerie explains how the Alps were formed and displays artworks from the Sardona UNESCO World Heritage Site. In summer, the Flumserberg alpine cheese dairy processes Alpine products such as cheese, yoghurt and fondue mixes at an altitude of 1,399 m. At the traditional cheese dairy, visitors can make their own cheese over an open fire under expert guidance. Check booking requirements and seasonal availability in advance for this hands-on activity.

The Rohan Red Deer Experience Trail gives children a specific task: they help Rohan the red deer and Spiro the woodpecker brew a magic potion for Mungg Flumsi. As temporary closures are possible, check whether it is open before your visit.

Getting to the valley stations

The 8-person SeeJet gondola connects Unterterzen directly with Tannenboden. Postbuses run from Sargans railway station or from Flums directly to Flumserberg and to the valley stations in Tannenheim or Tannenboden. As timetables are seasonal and may change, it is advisable to check your connection before travelling.
