Cressier Ne is located in the Littoral region of the canton of Neuchâtel. Historic buildings, themed trails and wine experiences are among the defining features of the area. When planning a stay, you can therefore choose how to balance architectural history, walks and tastings.

Historic buildings and local history

Château de Cressier towers above the village rooftops. It was built between 1610 and 1616. The rectangular building has four square corner towers, a crenellated wall and two small corner turrets. Château Jeanjaquet tells a different story of architecture: it is housed in a former rectory that was rebuilt between 1615 and 1622. At the edge of the forest, it offers panoramic views of the Alps.

The Maison du peintre Gustave Jeanneret is a protected historic building. It was rebuilt in 1729–30 around an older core. Inside, it features painted wood panelling with chinoiserie motifs. Alongside the châteaux’s striking exterior forms, this distinctive historic interior also contributes to the village’s character.

Another highlight is the former church of Saint-Martin. It dates back to the Early Middle Ages, is a protected historic building and has a Romanesque bell tower. The church stands on a hill above the village and is the only medieval religious building in the canton in private ownership. Archaeological excavations uncovered burials dating from the 7th century; written sources mention a religious building from 1180 onwards. Romanesque, Gothic and later architectural features shape the building.

Themed trails and varied landscapes

The Viti Tour is a freely accessible, signposted 6-kilometre trail with around 20 information panels. As trail conditions may change, check the latest information before setting out. Guided tours of the Sentier Viti-tour – Ouest are available by reservation; confirm your booking in advance.

Le petit tour de l’eau is a fun family walk in Cressier. With 11 interactive stations, it brings together water, nature and learning. The local «Tour de l’eau» has a different focus: this educational trail is dedicated to the floods of 2021 and starts at Cressier NE railway station. The local photo exhibition «Cressier Avant-Après» documents the natural disaster that struck Cressier on 22 June 2021.

The routes also pass through different landscapes: the Chaumont Tour starts at the railway station in the wine-growing village of Cressier and leads through fields, vineyards and forests. The Défi de Serroue runs from Cressier’s vineyards to the mountain pastures of the Métairie du Landeron. You can choose between a route through several landscape types and one linking vineyards with mountain pastures.

Wine experiences and planning your stay

At the Caveau des vins de l’Entre-deux-Lacs, you can taste wines from 15 wine-growing estates in the Entre-deux-Lacs region. Each week, one winemaker presents their full range of products, served by the glass. As participating estates and the weekly programme may change, check in advance who will be presenting on the date of your visit.

Grillette offers a guided vineyard tour in a 1960s Land Rover, followed by an aperitif among the vines. At Grillette Domaine de Cressier, you can taste six wines of your choice, optionally accompanied by a cold dish. As reservation details may change, confirm these offers in advance.

If you are looking for hotels for a stay in Cressier Ne, plan your travel dates around the interests you want to focus on during your visit. For guided tours and wine experiences that require reservations or have a changing weekly programme, checking dates in advance can help with planning.
