Activities in Siat range from a moderately difficult 6.1-kilometre snowshoe loop to the climbing wall in the gym. There is also the Church of Sogn Glieci, with wall paintings still visible, and other winter trails. When planning your stay, you can weigh up what you would like to focus on: climbing, a cultural destination or a tour with clearly specified distances?

Climb outdoors or indoors

The climbing garden in Siat offers a variety of climbing routes as well as a small via ferrata for beginners and experienced climbers. Another option is the indoor climbing wall in the gym at Casa Sentupada, where beginners and experienced climbers can train all year round. You can choose between different forms of climbing: routes and a via ferrata in the climbing garden, or year-round training on the indoor wall. Technical conditions and access may vary when visiting the climbing garden. Check the conditions in advance if you plan to use the indoor climbing wall.

Winter tours by distance and trail type

The Siat snowshoe hike is a moderately difficult circular route covering 6.1 kilometres, with 390 metres of ascent and descent. It follows forest and panoramic trails to the Cuolm Miez viewpoint, offers views across the Surselva and then returns to Siat. Snow and avalanche conditions vary by season; take current conditions into account when planning your tour.

The Cuolms da Siat circular route is 26 kilometres long, with 1,112 metres of ascent and descent. In direct comparison, it is more than four times as long as the 6.1-kilometre loop and has considerably more elevation gain. The distances therefore distinguish two snowshoe tours of different sizes. The Cuolms da Siat route passes very close to two wildlife quiet zones. Check the regulations before setting out and follow them strictly. Mountain weather and trail conditions can change; take current conditions into account when planning.

Another type of trail is the Siat–Falera winter hiking trail. This is an easy high-altitude trail on the south side of the Surselva, with plenty of sunshine and views of the surrounding mountains and the valley. This makes it possible to choose between snowshoe tours with specified distances and a winter hiking trail rated as easy. The trails offer different experiences: circular routes with elevation gain, or a high-altitude route with described views.

The Church of Sogn Glieci and its paintings

The Church of Sogn Glieci was built in the 12th century. Its wall paintings, which are still visible, date from the mid-17th century. The building brings together two periods that are clearly separated in time: the church’s construction and a later phase of wall decoration. If you are interested in church architecture or historical painting, this offers a specific cultural focus for your stay in Siat.
