The activities vary by season and type of experience. Village trails have named sections, winter routes run between Käserstatt, Bidmi and Lischen, and cheese-making and churning butter are the focus of the Alpine Work Day. If you are planning a winter trip, also factor the stated season and the mountain railway’s operating hours into your plans.

Village Walks in Wasserwendi

The 2024 municipal flyer describes the Hasliberg village walks as signposted walking routes of 2 to 5 km and lists route maps at the starting points, as well as QR codes with further information about the routes. For Wasserwendi, it lists the Badesee Village Walk, starting at the information board by the Twing bus stop. The route passes through the forest to the Syten viewpoint and returns to the Badesee via Holiboimi. Check the signs and starting point again on site.

The Wasserwendi Grand Village Walk passes the Badesee and the Obenbiel loop; it also includes mini golf. When comparing the two route descriptions, the sections listed are key: the Badesee Village Walk passes through the forest, goes to the Syten viewpoint and returns via Holiboimi; the Grand Village Walk passes the Badesee and Obenbiel and includes mini golf. This gives you specific landmarks to follow, rather than choosing a walk based only on its name.

Winter Routes and Winter Sports in the Wider Area

A winter sledding route starts in Hasliberg Wasserwendi. Participants take the mountain railway from Twing to Käserstatt; the sledding run then heads towards Bidmi. The “Fast Ride on Hasliberg” winter route starts at the Käserstatt mountain station, descends through Mägisalp Forest to Bidmi and continues to Lischen. The season for this route is listed as December to March. The route descriptions therefore mention different landmarks: the sledding route heads towards Bidmi, while the winter route continues as far as Lischen. For the winter route, you can reach Käserstatt by gondola from Hasliberg-Twing. Check its operating hours and timetable before your trip.

The Hasliberg and Haslital winter sports area has 60 km of groomed ski slopes, 15 km of sledding runs, 38 km of cross-country ski trails and a 40 km network of winter walking trails. In the wider Hasliberg and Haslital area, Skihäsliland in Bidmi is among the family-oriented activities for learning how to get around on snow. These regional details offer a broader perspective beyond the Wasserwendi routes described above.

Scenic Trail and Alpine Work Day

The Muggestutz 2 Dwarf Trail from Käserstatt to Lischen offers a different sequence of landscapes from the village walks. From Käserstatt, it passes through high moorland, over Balisalp and along a mountain stream to Bannwald, then continues to Lischen. The activity stations include dwarf houses and a suspension bridge. If you are choosing a trail based on its landscapes, you can compare this sequence with the Badesee Village Walk: forest, the Syten viewpoint and Holiboimi are part of that route, while the Muggestutz Trail is characterized by high moorland, a mountain stream and Bannwald.

The Alpine Work Day has a different focus. Participants travel from Hasliberg Wasserwendi to Käserstatt by mountain railway. At the Alpine Work Day, they can watch the cheesemaker at work and sample alpine cheese. The program also includes a workshop where butter is churned in a wooden churn. The experience combines watching, tasting and taking part. Check the event date when planning your trip, before scheduling this activity.
