Trädet can be explored through two very different themes: the history of Kronogården and trails ranging from a short nature path to longer routes. The historic farm is home to an agricultural museum and an exhibition about Trädet’s brewery. There are also hiking routes of varying lengths through different landscapes. When planning, it helps to first choose the scale that suits you: a short loop from Kronogården, a longer route or a detour into the landscape south of the village near Frälsegården.
Kronogården: Farm and Local History
Kronogården is an authentic 19th-century farm. The barn houses the agricultural museum, and there is also an exhibition about Trädet’s brewery. This brings together the history of farming and the local brewing industry. The two themes offer different perspectives: the museum focuses on agriculture, while the exhibition explores Trädet’s brewery. Visitors who want to include local history as well as trails in their stay will find a tangible point of interest at Kronogården.
Longer Trails: Pilgrimsleden and Redvägsleden
Pilgrimsleden norra Ätradalen is 39 kilometres long. It starts at Kronogården in Trädet and leads to Skottek in the southern part of central Ulricehamn. On a broader scale, the trail connects Falbygden and the Ätradalen valley. Its route makes Trädet the starting point for a hiking connection that ends in Ulricehamn.
Redvägsleden is 47 kilometres long and runs between Lassalyckan and Trädet; the hike can start at Kronogården. Part of the route follows the winding course of the Ätran through the Ätradalen valley. There are several rest areas along Redvägsleden, with fire pits and wind shelters where you can spend the night. On the section where Redvägsleden runs parallel to Dalumsleden, it is marked in yellow. The two longer trails therefore differ in more than their overall length: Pilgrimsleden leads from Kronogården to Skottek, while the river and the rest areas along the way help you find your bearings on Redvägsleden.
Nature Paths from Kronogården
The nature paths from Kronogården start and finish at Kronogården in Trädet. They pass horse paddocks, fields and meadows. The shorter Kronogården trail is 1.9 kilometres long, adapted for accessibility and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. This offers a clearly shorter option alongside the longer routes. The details about length and suitability help you gauge the scope of the loop; its surroundings of paddocks, fields and meadows also differ clearly from the section of Redvägsleden that follows the Ätran.
Ridge Landscape near Frälsegården
Frälsegården lies south of Trädet. Here, the Ulricehamnsåsen stands out in the form of ridges and hills. Frälsegården is on the road between Falköping and Ulricehamn; there is a car park and an information board on a small access road into the nature reserve. This landscape offers a different perspective from the trail descriptions: rather than a route following the Ätran, the focus here is on the prominent ridges and hills of the Ulricehamnsåsen.
During a stay in Trädet, you can therefore choose between farm history, short nature paths and longer hiking routes. Kronogården brings together the museum and exhibitions and is also the starting or finishing point for several trails. The longer routes take you beyond Trädet, while the 1.9-kilometre Kronogården trail offers a shorter, accessible option. Frälsegården, with its ridges and hills south of the village, offers a distinct landscape experience.
