Örn lies in the inner part of the deep and highly indented Örnefjorden. Topics to consider when planning your trip include archaeological traces, a cultural landscape, a protected stream and various routes. You can tailor your stay to the fjord scenery, culture, nature or cycling. For those interested in culture, two highlights stand side by side: the Bronze and Iron Age burial cairn and the Örn-Knutsvik-Håle cultural landscape, whose core values also include the Askum 852 small-scale industrial area.

Fjord scenery, culture and nature

Near Örn is a burial cairn, one of the region’s relatively few Bronze and Iron Age remains. Örn lies in the inner part of the deep and highly indented Örnefjorden.

Another cultural feature is the Örn-Knutsvik-Håle cultural landscape. The Askum 852 small-scale industrial area lies partly within this landscape and is one of its core values.

The natural environment is also a tangible feature: Håle bäck is a protected area for salmon and trout. The presence of sea trout was documented in a natural values inventory in September 2018.

Routes and navigation

In the wider region, the official digital maps for Soteleden and Kuststigen offer suggested stages and a location-finding function. The suggestions help with planning individual stages; the location function provides an additional way to navigate. Those following these routes will find two different planning tools in the same maps.

The 70 km Soteleden passes through the service centre at Örns Camping and then continues north through the northern part of the campsite.

The #H3 LVG-landsväg cycling route passes through Örn and offers views over the Örnefjorden. It runs mostly on paved roads with little traffic. It is not signposted on the ground. Route details may change, so check the current route before setting off. By comparison, the #H3 LVG-landsväg cycling route passes through Örn and offers views over the Örnefjorden, while the 70 km Soteleden passes through the service centre and the northern part of Örns Camping. The two routes therefore have different connections to the area: a route through the village with fjord views, and a specific route through the campsite. #H3 runs mostly on paved roads with little traffic, but is not signposted on the ground.

Location and accommodation
