On a trip to Romelanda, you can focus on several specific themes: a waterfall in a nature reserve, local history and church architecture. Golf is another possible interest. You can tailor your stay to the discoveries that appeal to you most.
Waterfalls and nature reserves
In the Lysegården Nature Reserve in the parish of Romelanda, the Vallerån River forms a waterfall about 38 metres high on the south side of Mount Örnekulan. The river, mountainside and waterfall give the reserve a clearly defined landscape theme. The Vallerån is also a habitat and breeding ground for sea trout. This brings together two aspects of nature: the landscape around the waterfall and the river’s importance as a habitat.
To visit the nature reserve, you can park in the golf course car park and follow the path through the golf course to the waterfall. Check access information before your trip. Another nature reserve, Dösebackaplatån, is in the parish of Romelanda in the municipality of Kungälv. Its name adds a second clearly identified nature reserve to Lysegården.
Museums and church architecture
The museums of the Romelanda Hembygdsförening are located at Lid Farm in Romelanda. Local objects there tell the story of Romelanda. The focus is on local history, conveyed through tangible objects. If you are interested in the history of the area as well as its landscapes, a visit to this museum offers a distinct cultural experience.
Norrmannebo Chapel, also known as Romelanda Chapel, is a small brick church with a narrower, lower chancel and a roof turret. A roof turret is a small tower-like structure on the roof; the chancel stands out from the rest of the building because it is narrower and lower. The chapel was built in a National Romantic style inspired by Baroque elements. The chancel’s shape, the roof structure and the style offer several distinct aspects to explore in its architecture. Local history and church architecture provide different cultural perspectives.
Golf and guided tours
LysegĂĄrdens Golfklubb offers Pay&Play on a full-length golf course. There is also a four-hole short course, where everyone is welcome to practise or play for fun. The two options differ in course format: Pay&Play on a full-length course or a shorter, four-hole course. When choosing, consider which format better suits your golf plans. Check the current booking conditions before making specific plans.
A 2026 programme from the Romelanda Hembygdsförening lists guided tours of the local heritage farm. If you would like to plan a tour, ask about a date during your travel period before your trip.
