Sätila lies on the northeastern part of Lake Lygnern. The range of travel themes includes church history, marked hiking trails, a bathing beach and options for excursions and activities. When planning, consider whether you would prefer to focus on culture, a walk or time by the water.

Church history and market

Sätila kyrka dates back to the Middle Ages. Its oldest ceiling paintings are from the 1730s. Because of the many angels depicted, the church is sometimes called the “Angel Church.” The nickname gives a specific indication of the imagery inside and makes the church a distinctive cultural highlight during your stay.

The market in Sätila may also be worth considering when planning your trip: it has been held for several years and offers local products for sale. If you would like to include it in your plans, check the date in advance.

Lygnern: maritime history and tours

Between 1889 and 1924, the steamship ISA operated on Lygnern from Sätila to Fjärås. Today, one excursion option is the electrically powered ISA af Lygnern. The excursion and cruise boat combines guided tours with food and drink. It operates seasonally; check the tour dates before your trip.

Activities at Camp Lygnevi

At Camp Lygnevi, you can rent canoes, kayaks, fishing kayaks and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs). The camp has an obstacle course on the beach. There is also a new nine-hole course. Check the current rental arrangements and the status of the courses before you arrive.

Hiking trails and excursion destinations

Four marked hiking trails start from Lygnevi. The Ösjö hiking trail begins and ends at Lygnevi; the Kullanäs hiking trail starts at the Lygnevi sports field. These details offer different starting points to help you choose a route.

For trips with a stroller, it is important to be aware of the limitations: of the four marked hiking trails, only Flohultsleden is stroller-friendly. The entire Klätten loop can also be stroller-friendly if the return route from Buarås follows Fjäråsvägen. Check local trail conditions before setting out, especially if you need a stroller-friendly route.

Kullanäs Udde is a popular excursion destination; it has a wind shelter with a barbecue area. The Ramhulta route leads to the Marks naturreservat nature reserve and Ramhultafallet. Ramhultafallet can also be reached from Sätila Sand via a hiking trail.

Beach and surroundings

Sätila Sand is a bathing beach with a long sandy shore and a 170-metre oak bridge. This makes it possible to combine a visit to the beach with a hike to Ramhultafallet. Nearby, Flohult strand has a small car park and a barbecue area.
