Torslanda offers several distinct reasons to visit: birdlife and a protected area at Torslandaviken, medieval architectural history and swimming facilities. These themes provide a starting point for shaping your stay around nature, history or leisure.

Birdlife and landscape

Torslandaviken is an important stopover and wintering area for birds and is part of the Natura 2000 network. If you take birdlife and protected nature into account when choosing your destination, you will find a clear focus on these themes here.

Sillvik, considered a good area for walks, is close to Torslanda. It has several trails and a swimming spot. The highest point in Sillvik is about 55 metres above sea level and offers views over a large part of the archipelago. The natural attractions therefore differ: Torslandaviken is known for birds stopping over and wintering, while Sillvik offers trails, a swimming spot and views.

Church, cemetery and local history

Torslanda Church is a medieval church and one of Gothenburg’s oldest churches. Its oldest parts probably date from the late 12th or early 13th century. A protected lime tree on Torslanda Cemetery is also certainly at least 800 years old. A gravestone in the cemetery commemorates Pastor Arfwid Gren, who died in 1799.

The history of the former airport can also be placed in context: Torslanda Airport was inaugurated in 1923 and replaced by Landvetter in 1977. Another way to discover culture and events is through Torslanda Library. It offers lectures, book recommendation events, read-aloud sessions and children’s theatre. The programme changes. If a particular event is important to your stay, check the latest schedule.

Swimming and leisure spots

Lillebybadet has extensive rocky shores, a small sandy beach, a bathing jetty and bathing ladders. There is also a diving tower, a barbecue area, a kiosk and toilets, including an accessible toilet. Municipal swimming facilities may change seasonally, so check the latest information before your visit, especially if you are planning to use a particular facility.

For Hästevik, Batterivägen is the nearest stop; from there, it is 1 kilometre to the beach. This distance does not indicate a walking time and should therefore not be treated as a time estimate for the journey.

At Torslanda Golf Club, you must book an appointment in advance to use the short course and the footgolf facilities. If you plan to do either activity, book in good time and check availability again before your trip.

Flygparken in Amhult Centrum was completed in June 2026 and is a public place where everyone is welcome to spend time. Its playground features an aeroplane and a wooden air traffic control tower for play. This is a distinct leisure option alongside the swimming spots and the library’s changing events programme.
