Kinnarumma brings together church history and boules court rentals with nature themes centred on wetlands and waterways. Former church sites, historical paintings and a connection to a mill offer different facets of local history. For trip planning, there is also a specific leisure option and the VĂ€sttrafik line 154 connection. You can choose which of these themes to focus on, whether culture, activity or landscape.

Churches, Paintings and Mill History

A total of four church buildings have stood on the grounds of the present-day Kinnarumma kyrka: three former churches at the current site and one church to the south. Another historical connection is Ramnakyrkan, which formerly stood in Kinnarumma. Its ceiling paintings date from the 1750s and are by Detleff Ross. The two references highlight different aspects: one concerns former church buildings and their locations, while the other links a church to a named artist and a date.

At Lilla Årydet, Kinnarumma kvarn is listed in the historical dam register and marked on a HĂ€rad map from the late 19th century. This adds another area of historical interest to the history of churches and art: the mill and its appearance in the register and on the map. Those interested in local history will therefore find a range of reference points, rather than just one kind of historical trace.

Community Life and Boules

In Flenstorp, the Kinnarumma Hembygdsförening carries out its activities in a Framkammarstuga dating from 1821. The building type and year of construction provide a specific architectural and historical context for the association. Separate from this as a leisure activity are the six boules courts the association rents out. They have weather shelters and seating. This means there is both a dated building and a rentable activity for different interests: architectural history on the one hand, and boules as a possible pastime on the other.

Wetlands and Waterways in the Study Area

The TrestjÀrnesjöarna lake and wetland area borders the Kinnarumma study area to the east and has high natural value. A natural, meandering watercourse rises in TrestjÀrnesjöarna and runs through the study area. This highlights both a neighbouring lake and wetland area and a watercourse within the study area as landscape features.

An open wetland in the study area also has high natural value and is particularly valuable for amphibians. The 2022 natural value survey recorded moor frogs, common frogs and smooth newts in the water area. These findings relate to the survey at that time; habitats and species occurrences can change over time.

TöllesjöbÀcken is also represented by a specific stretch of water: a section within the study area supports fish, and a relatively large number of trout were recorded there. This information also comes from the 2022 natural value survey and relates to the section mentioned.

Getting Your Bearings and Getting There

One named spot by the water is the HÀggÄn Kinnarumma barbecue area. It is located at Kinnarumma badplats, in a small bend in HÀggÄn. This specific point of interest complements the broader information about the lake and wetland area, wetland and watercourse.

VÀsttrafik line 154 connects Kinnarumma, Viskafors and BorÄs. If you are taking this connection into account when planning your trip, check the current timetable before travelling. This lets you factor the route into your plans without assuming a particular departure time.
