Borås combines urban culture with easy access to nature: forests and lakes shape the surrounding area, while the city centre features more than a hundred sculptures, installations and murals spread across an area of just under 1.5 kilometres. Around 40 murals shape the cityscape; most were created as part of the former No Limit® festival. The Hej Borås app offers three different art walks and shows additional sculptures and street art murals. One of the routes is 1.3 kilometres long and starts and ends at Sandwalls Plats. This makes it possible to discover Borås through art in public spaces without losing sight of the surrounding landscape.
Art, Textiles and Discoveries for Different Interests
At Borås Konstmuseum, you can see national and international contemporary art; admission is free. The Textilmuseet offers a different perspective on regional history: its collection includes products from the Swedish textile industry dating from the 1870s to the present day. In the DIY area, tools and materials are available free of charge for your own sewing projects. Here, appreciating art and trying things out for yourself offer different experiences.
Navet Science Center combines experiments and interactive discoveries for all ages with exhibitions on science, lightning, mental challenges and space. Around 300 animals from 42 different species live at Borås Djurpark. The park also serves as a centre for species conservation, biodiversity and research. The range of attractions therefore extends from art and textile history to science and wildlife.
