In the center of Möklinta, a church ensemble preserves the historic character of the town. Together with the rural surroundings and local trails, it makes for a destination with themes ranging from architectural history to outdoor activities.

Landscape and trails

Around Möklinta are open farmland, hilly forests and several lakes. Fornebyåsen extends from north to south through the landscape near Möklinta. The north–south direction of Fornebyåsen offers a different perspective from the open fields, forests and lakes.

The Dalkarlsvägen remains walkable from Folkärna to Möklinta and runs along paths, forest roads and smaller country roads. The route connects two named places and includes several types of paths. Motionsspåret i Möklinta comprises illuminated running routes of 1 km and 1.5 km. The difference between the two distances is 500 m. The options therefore differ in a specific way: the Dalkarlsvägen focuses on the connection between Folkärna and Möklinta, while Motionsspåret lets you choose between two clearly measured running routes.

Church ensemble and architectural history

The church ensemble in the center of Möklinta has retained its historic character, with a church, church stables, a rectory and a former assistant vicarage. This means the view of the townscape extends beyond the church building to include other buildings in the ensemble.

In the high choir of Möklinta Church is a Flemish mystery chest dating from around 1510 and originating in Antwerp. The church has three star vaults; the porch has a groin vault. These different types of vault are found in two parts of the building.

The three star vaults and the groin vault were built without wall arches, making them contemporary with the masonry. The first known organ in Möklinta Church was installed in 1494. The artwork, vault construction and organ history offer different perspectives on the church.

Houses, collections and everyday life

Gammelgården in Möklinta consists of a collection of older houses that were moved here from various places in the parish. The houses therefore represent more than a single original location: the collection brings together buildings from different places within the parish.

Möklinta Hembygdsgård has a large collection of implements and tools from agriculture and forestry, as well as household and craft items. Some of the objects are displayed in the barn with explanatory texts. This mix of tools, objects and explanations shifts the focus from the buildings to work and everyday life. The Bårstugan, an authentic building with its contents, is also located at Möklinta Hembygdsgård.

The two collections have different focuses: Gammelgården brings together older houses from several locations, while Hembygdsgård contains objects related to work, household life and crafts. This lets you distinguish between architectural history and everyday objects as different ways of exploring local history.

A visitor report from 2018 noted that Möklinta nostalgimuseum displayed interiors and equipment from old village shops.
