Rejmyre combines a living glass tradition with trails and a lake landscape. Reijmyre Glasbruk was founded in 1810 and is still in operation. Rejmyre is also the starting point for the Rejmyre–Falsnäset section of the Östgötaleden, and Rejmyre badplats is on the shore of Hunn. This gives you different themes to choose from when planning your trip: culture, outdoor activities and time by the water.

Glass History and Craftsmanship

The Rejmyre Glass Museum displays historic glass and provides information about glassmaking through the centuries. The exhibition includes a carriage from the time when the historic cableway was in operation. The glass tradition can thus be seen both in historic objects and at the glassworks, which is still operating today.

The Glas- och hantverksbyn in Rejmyre comprises several small workshops, shops and exhibitions. Alongside the history of the glassworks, local themes therefore include crafts and exhibitions. At the heart of the glassworks village is the Refuging Pavilion, a transparent dome resembling a greenhouse. In connection with the 2026–2027 residency, it serves as a studio and meeting place for the resident artists. Its form and function bring a contemporary art connection to the glass tradition, which dates back much further.

Historic Places in the Village

Rejmyre kyrka is also connected to the history of the glassworks: it was originally built as a works chapel at Reijmyre Glasbruk for its employees. The wooden chapel from which the church developed was built in 1837. Its history thus also tells of its original role serving the glassworks employees.

Another local story concerns the Macken i Rejmyre gas station. It was threatened with demolition before local residents joined together to call for its preservation. The episode highlights residents’ efforts to preserve this place.

Östgötaleden and Getting There

Rejmyre is the starting point for the Rejmyre–Falsnäset section of the Östgötaleden. A marked 0.7 km connecting trail leads from Rejmyre to the starting point of the stage, where the section towards Falsnäset begins. The connection and the stage serve different purposes: one takes you to the starting point, while the other forms the route towards Falsnäset.

Most of the section follows gravel and forest roads and is also suitable for cycling. Rejmyre is also accessible by public transport. If you plan to travel this way, check the connections for your travel dates.

Hunn: Swimming and a Day Trip

Rejmyre badplats is on the shore of Hunn, in a sheltered forest setting. It has large grassy areas, a sandy beach and a sandy lakebed. Hunn itself is an elongated lake surrounded by forest, with several islands and beaches, and is well suited to a day trip. The specific swimming area and the lake as a day-trip destination therefore offer different ways to enjoy the water and scenery.

Rejmyre Kanotbas invites you to go paddling from Rejmyre. Together with Hunn’s appeal as a day-trip destination, this offers another way to include the lake in your travel plans, in addition to visiting the swimming area.
