The Badebodaån flows through Grönskåra, bringing together several aspects of the area: older factory buildings and remains of several industrial sites have been preserved along the river in the cultural-historical core area, and trout are found in the river. The area also includes a former station house with a cellar, Isabogården, a local heritage farm, and two circular walking route options. Grönskåra therefore offers starting points for a trip that takes in local history, walking routes and connections to the water.
Cultural History Between Industry and Local Heritage
The cultural-historical core area of Grönskåra is classified as Class 2. Older factory buildings and remains of several industrial sites have been preserved along the Badebodaån within the area. The location of the sites along the river is therefore directly connected to the history of the town. For travellers interested in culture, this offers a different focus from a purely nature-based visit: Grönskåra can also be understood through its industrial past.
The former station house in Grönskåra, together with its cellar, is also part of the core area. Since the 1970s, Isabogården has served as a local heritage farm, adding a distinct focus on local and regional history to the area’s industrial past.
Badebodaån, Swimming Area and Chapel
The Badebodaån flows through Grönskåra, and trout are found in it. Grönskårabadet is a swimming area in Högsby Municipality. Grönskåra Chapel is located next to a swimming area on the Badebodaån. Nature, a swimming area and the chapel are therefore all local points of interest. For trip planning, this connection to the water adds another dimension to the area’s history.
Circular Routes and Water Activities
The circular route from Grönskåra hembygdsgård via Strömsrum offers a 2.8 km option and a longer 4.7 km loop via Högsby Århult and Grönskåra. The difference between the two distances is 1.9 km, a clear difference in route length. Hikers can park at Grönskåra hembygdsgård and continue on foot towards Strömsrum. This makes it possible to use the stated starting point and direction towards Strömsrum when planning a specific walk. Route conditions may change; check them before setting out. The 4.7 km loop is about two-thirds longer than the 2.8 km option.
The Badebodaån and Kvarnsjön fishing area begins in the Badebodaån west of Grönskåra. A suitable canoe launch, by contrast, is located in Grönskåra along Route 125. The two water activities therefore also differ in their location: the fishing area starts on the river west of the town, while the canoe launch is in Grönskåra.
Midsummer at Isabogården
A traditional Midsummer celebration was held at Isabogården in Grönskåra in 2026. The programme included dancing around the Midsummer pole, a lottery, a fishing pond, a chocolate wheel, coffee refreshments and musical entertainment by two troubadours. If you would like to plan your trip around a festival date, check the date in advance.
