On the southern shore of Lake Vättern, Huskvarna combines industrial history with striking landscapes and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. The Husqvarna Museum presents 400 years of industrial history across 2,400 square metres. The town also has historic sites, walking trails and viewpoints. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Huskvarna, you can plan your trip around the subjects that interest you most: cultural history, trails through the landscape or summer activities.
Lake Vättern, Waterfalls and Viewpoints
Huskvarna lies on the southern shore of Lake Vättern. Huskvarnabergen Nature Reserve brings together natural, geological and cultural values, as well as opportunities for outdoor activities. The Huskvarna waterfalls descend 120 metres along the stretch from the heights of Stensholm to Kvarnbron. Above Huskvarna stadspark (Huskvarna City Park) is a viewpoint overlooking all of Huskvarna, the southern part of Lake Vättern and parts of Jönköping.
The trails also vary in length and route. Pustaleden is a 1.8-kilometre circular trail in central Huskvarna, with an elevation difference of 100 metres. It passes through lush deciduous forests and by protected beeches and 300-year-old oaks. Brunstorpsleden is longer, at 3.9 kilometres, and also has an elevation difference of 100 metres. The loop starts and ends at Brunstorps gård. At the top of Brunstorpsberget are several picnic spots with panoramic views of Lake Vättern.
The same stated elevation difference over different trail lengths provides a practical comparison for planning your day. At 3.9 kilometres, Brunstorpsleden is the longer loop; Pustaleden combines a shorter route with the deciduous forest and old trees described above. Another walking trail, Huskvarnaåns promenad, is five kilometres long in total.
Brunstorps gård is in Huskvarnabergen Nature Reserve, in the northern part of Huskvarna, and is open to everyone at all times. Brunstorpsleden can be reached by bus route 121, which stops at Huskvarna Brunstorps gård. Check the timetable before travelling. In summer, there is a kiosk and kayak rental at Oset bathing area.
Industrial History and Historic Sites
The Husqvarna Museum focuses on the town’s industrial history, presenting 400 years of it across 2,400 square metres. Smedbyn has red cottages built in the mid-18th century for the blacksmiths who worked here. The buildings are listed and remain in their original locations.
Huskvarna kyrka was designed by Birger Damstedt and built in 1907–1908. Garpa Skans, an archaeological site dating from the 14th century, is in the northern part of Huskvarna kyrkogård. At the cemetery, you can take a tour and see graves of cultural and historical interest.
The remains of Rumlaborg tell another chapter in the town’s history: Albert of Mecklenburg had the fortification built in the 1360s. The remains described today include a central area with an irregularly shaped mound, two ramparts and three ditches. The precise form of these remains distinguishes the site from the preserved buildings in Smedbyn and the church built later.
City Park, Swimming and Events
Huskvarna stadspark combines walking trails and a playground with a park building built in 1914, which has an attached café. Brunstorpsbadet is a heated outdoor swimming pool with a 50-metre pool, a teaching pool, a paddling pool and a water slide with a landing pool.
Since 1925, Huskvarna Folkets Park has hosted music, theatre, festivals and fairs. Seasonal events include car gatherings on selected Wednesday evenings in summer, attended by hundreds of cars. If one of these evenings is the reason for your trip, check the specific event date and your accommodation’s availability before booking.
