Polinyà De Xúquer brings together historic architecture, sacred art and interactive museum experiences; the Ruta dels Assuts offers a different focus for your stay.

Historic Architecture

Casa del Lloc de Sinyent is a Gothic civil building with a loggia dating from the 14th century. One of the ensemble’s defining buildings originated in the early 14th century. In 2018, Casa del Lloc de Sinyent was protected by Decree 15/2018 as an Asset of Cultural Interest in the Monument category. The loggia and the early origins of a defining building give the ensemble different historical points of reference.

La Casota offers a different architectural accent: this agricultural building from the mid-18th century was built as a country house. Looking at these buildings makes it possible to compare different purposes and periods of construction, rather than reducing them to a single construction date or building type.

Church and Chapel

The Iglesia Parroquial de la Santa Cena de Nuestro Señor was built between 1720 and 1743. Its single-nave interior combines Baroque elegance with Neoclassical elements and is decorated with wall paintings and 18th-century Valencian tiles. Two portals are dedicated to the Eucharist and Saint Sebastian. Other features include a large altarpiece depicting the Last Supper and a three-tier bell tower. The building brings together spatial form, decoration and religious imagery.

The Ermita de Sant Sebastià is a smaller example with different proportions: a rectangular 16th-century chapel with a pointed barrel vault. A barrel vault is a lengthwise vault; this chapel’s is described as pointed. Thus, alongside the single-nave church is a small chapel with a clearly defined plan and a distinctive vault.

Casa Museo de la Magia: Visit by Reservation

Casa Museo de la Magia combines interactive installations with historical objects. It features more than 25 installations with optical illusions, puzzles, challenges, impossible objects and entertaining photo backdrops. More than 1,000 historical objects are displayed in the museum area. The difference from the historic buildings is clear: here, the focus is on participation and the museum collection. The installations and collection may change over time.

Access is only possible during scheduled visit and show times; such times are planned at least once a month. Advance reservations are required. Check the schedule and reservation rules before your trip, as the schedule and conditions may change.

Ruta dels Assuts and Further Local History

The Ruta dels Assuts starts at the footbridge beside Camí de la Mota, between Ronda Joan Fuster and Carrer Sant Josep. Allow around 16 kilometres for the round trip; the route is just over 16 kilometres long and can be covered on foot or by bicycle. Check the starting point and trail conditions before setting out, as conditions may change. This makes the route a longer alternative to a visit focused on individual historic buildings or the museum, which requires a reservation.

The public washhouse on the edge of Polinyà de Xúquer’s town centre has also been restored. Today, only the millstones and the entire network of canals and water channels remain from a former mill belonging to the Barony of Corbera in Polinyà de Xúquer. Its original structure dates from the 14th century. The mill is therefore of interest for its surviving technical components and the history of its water supply, rather than as a fully preserved building.

Ullals de la Font is another place of tourist interest in Polinyà de Xúquer. The Festes d’Agost are a highlight of the festival calendar. If specific event dates are important for your trip, check them in advance. This lets you take the festival tradition into account alongside architectural history and a museum visit, without assuming that an events programme will be available for a particular period.
