Platja De Gandia offers more than five kilometres of fine sandy coastline. When planning your visit, it is worth considering the beach areas according to their different features: Playa Nord is characterised by its expansive sands and visitor services, while the dunes and its designated beach status are defining features of Playa de l'Auir.
Playa Nord: Beach and Services
Playa Nord stretches for more than three kilometres and covers 300,000 square metres of fine sand. It is an urban beach and holds certifications in safety, quality and environmental management; its certification status may change.
Facilities at Playa Nord include accessible walkways and sports areas. There are also lifeguards, police patrols and three bathing areas adapted for people with reduced mobility. Parasols and sun loungers are available to rent on the beach, along with beach bars. As visitor services may be provided or changed seasonally, check which facilities are currently available before your trip.
Playa Nord also has a range of facilities for leisure activities: volleyball courts, basketball hoops, football goals, a kite-surfing area and children's playgrounds. These facilities are located directly on the beach. Facilities may change or undergo seasonal maintenance, so it is helpful to check their current status when planning your visit.
Dunes at Playa de l'Auir
Playa de l'Auir offers a different experience. Dune formations with native vegetation extend for about two kilometres. Raised walkways allow visitors to enter the dune area while respecting the dunes, flora and fauna. The walkways provide a route through this landscape without conflating it with the sports and visitor services at Playa Nord.
Playa de l'Auir is an authorised, signposted nudist beach. If regulations change, check the rules in force and the signs before visiting. This makes it easy to distinguish between two different aspects of the coastline when planning your stay: the beach services at Playa Nord, and the dune landscape and nudist status at Playa de l'Auir.
Water Activities and the Promenade
In Gandia, accredited centres and schools offer a wide range of water sports. These include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet skiing, rowing, kayaking, fishing, catamaran trips and stand-up paddleboarding. The available operators and activities may vary by season. If a particular sport is important to your trip, ask providers about their offerings in advance.
For exercise on land, the Paseo Marítimo offers a range of options: you can walk, run and skate there, or cycle on the cycle path. Gandia Beach also has two tourist information offices, known as “Faros”. Both are located directly on the Paseo Marítimo. As visitor information locations may change, it is advisable to check the details before your visit.
Plan Your Stay Around Your Interests
When choosing which beach area to focus on, the differences between their offerings are more useful than a general description of the entire coastline. Playa Nord is best known for its beach services, sports areas and adapted bathing areas. At Playa de l'Auir, the dunes with native vegetation and the designated nudist status shape the visitor experience. Water activities, meanwhile, are offered by centres and schools in Gandia and may vary seasonally.
If you are looking for a holiday apartment, first consider which of these aspects is most important to your stay: beach services, water sports, activities on the Paseo Marítimo or the dune landscape. In particular, check any seasonally changing services that are important to your plans.
